thinking 4.10's

i thinking bout putting 4.10 gears in my 01 trans am...Only thing is i only have 1 vehicle anotherwards its my everyday driver as well...How bad will that affect my car or will it as far as everyday driving is concerned..oh yea everything is still stock..its 6 speed too..

dcalcote May 28, 2006 03:12 PM

I had 4.10s in my car and I loved them, It made 6th gear much more usefull.

My gas mileage didn't really go down, youre still going to shift at the same rpms, Just a little bit lower mph. I am only going to take them out because I put a th350 in my car and now it turns about 3500 rpms at 60mph...but with the 6 speed thats not a problem

4.10s actually allowed my gas mileage to go up - I can get into 6th gear at lower speeds now, without bogging the engine down.

i drive my Camaro with 4.33 gears in it. I usually cruise around town in 5th gear at 45mph and then on the highway 75mph is 2100 rpms.

get the 4.10's, makes the car more fun to drive

Alpha-Q May 29, 2006 04:53 PM

Is it safe on a 10 bolt? I was thinking of getting it myself but got scared i might break some teeth especially on hard launches.

OOOJOHN May 29, 2006 05:00 PM

get the 410s you wont regret it... they really wake our cars up. I still have the stock 10 bolt and ive got lots of 11 second runs on it. You should be fine for a while.

4:10's, M6, daily driven almost 25k miles last year. I'm not easy on the car and they have performed perfectly. Installed myself and have been going strong almost a year now. No problems to speak of and 20mpg in the city, almost 30 on the highway.

...You should be fine for a while.....
Thats the part that scares me....

BLAKE 01 WS6 May 30, 2006 03:04 PM

huh? i only get 18-19mpg, but it's still running a little rich. will feel like a whole different car. you will have major traction problems in first.

03 BUSA May 30, 2006 07:32 PM

4:10's and don't think twice. You won't regret it.

Well, I just installed my Motive gear 4.10s yesterday. I havent really got on it cause I'm still breaking them in. But I can tell there is a lot more there, the are very streetable and I can't wait to run at the track next Thursday night. I'll keep You posted.

fastfbody Jun 2, 2006 06:19 PM
