3.90's are in:)

Got the car back yesterday, put them through a heat cycle, and went out and beat on it this morning. I really like this gear. Has a lil more go to it than the 3.73's, but doesn't run out of steam up top like the 4.11's. I am going to stick with the gear when I get the new rear end. 3rd gear spins a lil easier to now:)

Ok so do yourself a favor and don't break this one, ok!!!! :jest:

Good info to know. I have been debating the 3.89 versus 4.11 gears. I think I will go 3.89 for my new rear.

PS how are you liking that Trak cam?

At least I have a car now...:jest: ..I wanna see the Vette when you get it..good luck!

As far as the cam, its the shit man. It's a strong one, and I would like to get it dyno tuned to see what we can squeeze out of it, as the tune thats in it right now was done with street tuning. If you are leaning towards a cam, I highly reccomend it.

SS4Matt Jun 18, 2006 02:59 PM

yeah scott from driveline built my 9inch with 3.89 gears. i think it's perfect! just like everyone says, more oomf then the 373's with out the 3k rpm down the highway!

Hoss i feel the same way......... with the 3.90's my cam only setup dosen't run out of breath up top like it did with my 4.10's or 4.30's. Not to mention that they will work perfect for me on the spray at the track  no more shifting to 5th :jest:

hmmm, youve been misinformed about proper break in for gears, supposed to drive very easy for at least 500 miles.

Ahhh break in schmeak in. I put mine in and went right to the track. No problems.

who makes those 3.90 gears? Are they for a 7.5"?

Riddlerls1 Jun 25, 2006 10:32 PM

yup they are for the 10 bolt now. I just noticed today that Motive now makes them.

Im very excited as before i was going to stay with 3.73s so i wouldnt have to shift to 5th but now im very happy with this new option.

It's okay. I think they are doomed to break regardless.

I also subscribe to the "one heat cycle" break-in for R&Ps. I think many people describing a 1200 mile break in for gear sets are attempting to cover their butt.

I guess a NASCAR 9" is ready to beat on after the Talladega 500. :jest:
