Moser wheel stud issue

I finished my 9 inch install this week and got ready to torque my lug nuts down. Before I installed the axels, I noticed the studs were marked as metric grade 10.9, so I got out my torque guide and that size and grade were only rated for 75 ft/lbs, I called Moser and they confirmed they are rated for only 75-80 ft/lbs. Stock wheel studs call for 100 ft/lbs.

What is everyone doing about these studs! Will they hold the wheels on at 75 - 80 ft/lbs? On E/T streets with a 5K clutch dump?

I think it's pretty bad that Moser installs studs that are not as good as factory stock studs in a "High Performance" axel assembly!

I have never heard of anyone having a problem with the studs Moser uses. Bob

just because something doesn't get torqued down as tight, doesn't mean they aren't as strong if not stronger.

Besides, tensile strength is relatively unimportant when dealing with Wheel lugs, shearing strength is what you want to be more concerned with, and the Moser studs are definately superior over stock studs in this manner.

I have torqued the metric moser studs at 100ft lbs for years, never even noticed the markings. 83ftlbs for 10.9 12mm is correct though. I have some dorman stock replacement studs here and they are marked 10.9 also so..
