Default stock rear end biuld

i talked to someone at moser and they said if i weld the tubings on the stock ten bolt and put in a spool unit with their 35 spline axles it will hold 600 rwhp with slicks on the track and will be lighter. has anyone ever done this and should i try it.

Have you seen the size of the ring and pinion in these 10 bolts? I think whoever you talked to is on crack.

LOL.....I have a few questions just for the hell of it. Just for the record I have read the sticky on this topic so dont start slamming me! The Sticky say's there is nothing that can be done to improve a 10 bolt. Some last longer than others, but sooner or later they all die!
1. What is the hp rating for the stock 10bolt with 342 gear?
2. Is there really nothing that can be done to improve the life of a 10 bolt if I wanted to slip a new 410 gear in it.
3. And for the brave people that did lower the gear in the 10bolt, how long till it crapped out?

I would personally never upgrade a 10 bolt, I was just wondering about those that have. I mean hell if 10 people sound off about how great there 10 bolt is with a 410 gear I may condiser changing my mind...

4.10's are a blast in a 10 bolt, just don't run sticky tires much less slicks. There are several things you can do to beef up the rearend, aftermarket axles, aftermarket posi, stud kit for the bearing caps, rear cover with girdle support and weld the axle tubes. All this is fine but you still end up with a teenie little ring and pinion. You start beefing up parts on this thing and you end up making the weakest link even more vulnerable. I upgraded one but left my original rearend intact so when this thing blows up I can get it back on the road quickly. Go cheap and just throw some 4.10 gears in it and have some fun but start saving for a 12 bolt.

please don't waste any money on the stock 10 bolt. save for a built rear if you plan on putting down more power than stock. i fixed mine 4x before i stopped being stoopid

strange 60 ftw!

edit. fwiw--i never had a problem with my ring and pinion, running 4.10's. its just those spider gears in the auburn posi that kept spitting right down the middle and wiping the rest of it out. it didn't like too many 6k dumps at the track.

I put 4.10's in and I loved them, except I broke a tooth off my ring gear last weds. night and they've only got about 1500 miles on them. So I had to put a new gear in - I'm already sick of doing them. I'm lucky I don't have to spend $300 to have a gear installed each time. I'm definitely saving up for a 12 bolt.
