Default Gears

Hi everyone. This is my first post on this message board, but I have really enjoyed reading and learning from you guys. I have a question about gears. I have an '02 SS. Not too many mods...this week I will be putting on LM system, Granatelli MAFS, Air lid w/ K&N. It is a six speed w/ factory hurst and Lou's short stick. I don't really ever drag much at the strip, although I may soon, but even then--just every now and again. Would it be beneficial for me to replace my gears? If so, what do you recommend.
Thanks.
Jeff

Youll probably be happy with your stock gears. They are strong, quiet, and covered under warranty. I drive my car very hard, and race at the track weekly. I love my 3.73s, I feel they are a very good performance value. In your situation , I would wait and see if your performance needs increase. Just my .02

I'm not a six speed guy but for the street 3.42s are fine. If you went to the track alot I would say 4.10s and a tire. Maybe another M6er could give you better advise.

I'd put in some 4.10's without a second thought.

I'm planning on putting 4.10s in my 6 speed when I have the opportunity (and find a shop that can do it right).

I have never swapped gears before, but the 4.10s sound like they would be a blast on the street, and for a little track time every now and again...

It looks like the rear end cover girdle is a good idea for added strength - I plan on getting it.

Save your pennies and get a moser 12 bolt w/4.10s! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Do it right the first time. Why not get a BULLET PROOF rear setup? I will get one before I start doing big power mods.
