Default How much time did 4.10s shave off for you guys????

Well, I'm picking my car up today after with a new set of 4.10s and I can't wait. I've heard it will be like a whole new car. My buddy has them in his Mustang, and the feel of it is so different, but we don't have any times yet to compare. I was just wondering if any of you guys have some time slips and can give me an estimate as to how much the 4.10s really helped.

And sorry if I posted this in the wrong section. If so I'll try and move it to the Drag section, but I thought this might be the better place.

So how much in a full 1/4 ??

I know our track only runs 1/8 for jr. dragster or if the wind is too strong.

Most will tell you that you can shave .04 or .05 moving from 3.42s to 4.10s, assuming you dont have traction issues.

Yes, thats exactly what I meant. Now I feel like a tard. I usually bust on people for doing that exact thing...

I went from a best of 12.53 to a best of 12.34 with the only change being the 4.10s in my car. It used to be hard to get any better than a mid-high 1.9 60ft with the 3.42s, I either bogged or spun the Nittos. Now I 60ft low-mid 1.8s ALL DAY at a more conservative launch rpm. Best 60ft to date is a 1.82 running Nitto DRs. You'll love them!

Yes, launches are far more controllable... Youll notice a MUCH bigger difference with a cam when you can spin a little higher...

You guys are lucky I guess. I only picked up .03 (and I do mean .03 and not .3 ) in the 1/8th going from 3.42's to 3.90's. I plan on putting in a spool and some 4.10's in the very near future hence my interest in this thread. I guess having a monster stall in the car makes mine less sensitive to gear selection than others. I doubt if I'll see much from going with 4.10's either but I've got to put in a new gear with the spool. Spools are 4 series so my 3 series 3.90's won't work. Congrats to you guys that picked up significantly but realize it just doesn't happen in every case.

I can't wait to find out first hand! I have been waiting to get the money for my rocket that a buddy was SUPPOSE to be buying from me. After almost 4 weeks and he hasn't come up with the money, so I am about to put it in the paper. Sacrificing the bike for mod money, now THAT'S having it BAD

Well if youre gonna get enough off the bike, do some heads at the same time... I was cam only for a while, but heads make a real difference.. even budget ones. Bumping up the compression and having a little extra flo makes a world of diffeence in drivability and fun factor. Even if you only gain 20 HP up top, the whole power range under than feels much bigger. Sorry to make you spend money you dont even have yet!

Bikes paid for and I'm wanting to get 6500 out of it. I was PLANNING to get AFR 205s too, until this...

Now I am afraid I "might" have to spend the head money on a 12 bolt

Weather and DA were almost identical. Back to back weekends last Fall. Car dead hooked. It went from 7.84 to 7.81. 60' was just a smidge better if I recall. It picked up less than a half MPH from just the gear change both at 87 n'change. The converter change and some Hoosier tires dropped my best from 8.29 to 7.84 so, like I said, my car is probably less sensitive to what rear gear is in the car than a lot of others. This was before the headers were installed. Not really trying to play devil's advocate here but I just wanted to relay my experience with a gear change. Remember though that I didn't go the whole way to 4.10's at first but plan on changing to them very soon.

That is a big converter... Perhaps a cam that spins up a bit better will show you some larger gains too... Or that high compresion 408 might drop your time by a smidge...
