Why does my TC only lock right with the A/C on?
Ever since my cam went in I’ve had TC locking issues. Sometimes it locks, sometimes it doesn’t. I know that’s normal with a cam and I know it can be fixed by changing misfire temp tables, but what’s odd is what happened Saturday. I finally got the AC recharged and ran it for the first time since the cam install. The TC locks up constantly just where it should (speed and throttle position wise) with the AC on. With it off, I’m right back to intermittent lock-up.
Why does the AC effect this?

It's gotta be somewhere in the lockup settings based on RPM. When you run your AC, doesn't that kick your RPM a 150 RPM or so. That would explain why it's locking when you want with the AC on and not with it off.
Or, I need to put down the crack pipe and let the experts reply.
What kind of tunning do you have (MTI)? Do you have any kind of MAF other than stock? Just some things as to where to look.

Re: Why does my TC only lock right with the A/C on?
My idle only seems to raise by maybe 50rpm with the AC on. I have MTI tuning. My MAF is 100% stock down to the factory screen.
I’m starting to think that perhaps there is an allowance in the PCM for a larger number of misfires when the AC is on due to the greater load on the motor. Perhaps with that greater allowed number of misfires, my cam “sneaks” by the PCM and is seen as normal, thus allowing the TC to lock? I’m going to have my misfire temp tables changed to 139min/140max as I was told would cure the issue. Then I shouldn’t have to run the AC just to get lock-up
If any moderators want to move this to the tuning/computer section, please feel free. I might get more responses there...

My tranny started doing that right after the 12 bolt 3.73's went in. Send the PCM of to Ed Wright.. it's been great every since It's set to lock up at 30mph under part throttle... which make a big converter MUCH more driveable.
