How hard is it to do a gear swap

How hard is it to do a gear swap I've got a 2000 TA with a cam, bolt ons, LT headers, etc. It is a M6 so I think I have the 3.42 gears. I have the Helms manual and have done all the mods myself and buy or rent the tools as I go. If I went to 3.73s can I do this install myself?

Re: How hard is it to do a gear swap Gear installs are one of those jobs that are just best left to the professionals. They require some specialized tools (that can cost up to $200+), and just the general know how of having done it before in order to have little to no whine.
But like any other mod, if you are truely dedicated to doing everything by yourself it can be done. Buy or rent the tools (make sure the tools you rent have accurate guages) and then buy a book that details the install.
Overall, my opinion is to ask around and find someone in your area that is good. Because gear installs can leave a bad taste in your mouth if they whine louder than you exhaust system.

These professionals don't always bother spend the same effort on every customer's car. Especially if you don't want to buy their 'recommended' parts ( which they stock and want to make profit <img border="0" alt="[guns]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_guns.gif" /> ) but to use the parts you have carefully selected and purchased elsewhere...
