not gonna work man, 2 series, 3 series, and 4 series all use different carriers with different thicknesses. shimming wont make up for it.

the actual rear end is the same dimensions for all 93-02 f-bodys, however the ABS set up is different and thats what wont allow it to work

so theirs no way i could just use the whole complete rear end out of the 94 and put the stock gear from the 94 also in and make it work ...i was under the impression that the only thing that was different was the insides of the carriers ...thus the reason i thaught i could use a gear out of a 94-97 in the older rear end and just put under my car ..i dont know i guess i was missinformed from some ppl ..but damn cars been down two weeks and its just pissing me off lol ..so i guess ill have to find me a totaled out 98+ and still the rear end out of it

You can put a series 3 gear in a series 2 carrier if you buy a spacer (the gear companies will know what you need). It makes the install more difficult, but is certainly cheaper than starting over.
