373's installed!!!!!!!

some on here have said that gears only pick your car up 1-2 tenths, let me tell you i picked up my car yesterday and had 373's installed (2000 TA, factory 273's) and its crazy how much faster it is, my buddys turbo 240 used to put about a 1/2 car on me and now i put 3-4 cars on him, it had to pick up around 1/2 sec.

my mods are long tubes, ory, single chamber dumped, diablo tuner, lid, taylor 9mm wires, tr6's.

i am extremely happy and would suggest this change to anybody and i have a coan converter and it will be installed monday!

Well I did 3.73 but i had the 3.23 factory, so I bet your going to pick up alot of power. Some times its hit or mis, I did not get a better et but I picked up 2mph. I know some people who went .5 better et, so like I said hit or mis. It sounds like you got a HIT:drive:

ICRAZY6 Mar 8, 2007 03:45 PM

/\/\/\Where'd you get those exhuast pulleys? LOL!

prietodogg Mar 8, 2007 04:14 PM

I had 3.23 on my A4 and changed to 3.73 not much of a difference but you can feel the car pulling harder. I ran against a 2002 Z twice once with 3.23 and once with 3.73 both times I pulled away but it pull away faster with 3.73 >: )

so going from 3.23s to 3.73s isent much of an improvement? How much did u all pay to have'em installed?

Gitano 1 Mar 8, 2007 10:14 PM

well, i got mine istalled by a buddy, so he did it for $90, but its typically gona cost someone $300 or more from a shop...

5_02ls1 Mar 8, 2007 10:40 PM

323 to 373 is only half a turn slower thats why you 323 guys arent feeling much 273 to 373 like i done is a whole turn slower = big difference.i gained 1.5 sec at the track doing all bolt ons and 3.73s.now grt some sticky tires and hold on

green28 Mar 12, 2007 01:52 AM

I'm thinking I need to dump my 2.73's and make the switch to 3.73's. I'm hoping to get a converter soon too. I'll try and get some 1/4 mile times after each install, unless I get them both done at the same time, haven't decided yet.

crazboy99 Mar 12, 2007 02:31 AM

i got my car with the 3.73's already init....so i wouldnt know the difference....i need to take a ride in a car with the stock gears....mine is starting to feel normal...i know gas milage with 3.73's isnt the greatest

take it to the track to find out, feeling fast and being fast are 2 different things, I am glad you like the change.

Back when I had my 97' ss lt-1 I went from 273 to 373 and you could definetly feel the diffrence. Let me put it to you this way, I would lay the smack down on brand new 2000 z-28 and trans am's ls-1's. Before the install those same cars would leave me in the dust and after the install I would have like a 2-3 car lengths on them from a stand still.

Tirefire Mar 12, 2007 07:05 AM

Almost forgot I got 4.10 gears for sale. I ended up going with a 9 inch for my car so if anyone is intrested let me know.
