Default whos running 3.89's

I know there a lot of these gear ratio threads but I need opinion on people running 3.89's. Im having a 9" built right now and I cant decide if I want 3.89's or 4.10's. For those running 3.89's how do you like them, do you feel there better for 1/8 or 1/4 or it does not matter. Do you wish you would have went 4.10. Are you happy with them. My car makes really good power up top so I dont want to be out of gear or power with 4.10s but from reading seems plenty or having good luck with theres. I need some input!! THANKS

I can't tell if yours is an auto or manual, but for a manual 4.10 hands down are the way to go. For an auto, 4.10s seemed to be a bit much when my friend had them in his 94.

I have them with similar numbers as you, I wish I would have went 4:10's but if you are a serious racer you have to take into consideration the rpms across the finish line. Mine is a weekend driver, sometimes go to the track type car so I think I would do 4:10's if I had to do it again...

I can tell you in a couple days. I had 4.10 10-bolt and I am putting a 3.89 9" in hopefully tomorrow night.

I'm getting a 9" rear. Mine will have 4.10 because i plan on running a 28" tall drag slick to bring my rpm's down and give me more sidewall for flex and grip. I will be making 800 rwhp. I will basically have 3.90 at the track with the taller tire and some serious accelleration on the street.

I just got done beating on mine for the first time. I can't tell the difference between the 3.89 and the 4.10. It is splitting hairs so why not go with a 3.89.

Why do you wish you would have went with 410's?

For the poster is this a daily drive or just a race car? Makes a difference. I eat more gas with the 3.89 than I did with the 373 and the 410 would only make it worse. I have plenty of pick up and go with my cam.

i went with 3.89's 3.90's because of what i wanted to trap at in the 1/4 with a 26" 6200 rpms in 4th gear i could trap 123, get the revlimiter raised 100-200 rpm and add a couple mph to that
bolt on's and spray

I have them in my Moser 9", and i kinda wish I had went with 4.10's or 4.30 gears. I still have plenty of top end for driving on the highway with them. These are very noisy as well, that may be from the way they were setup, but it seems it may be a common issue. For my mods 3.90's seem like the right gear for me.

i see tnt in your sig so i would definitely go with the 3:89 cogs.i like my 3:89 9 " setup also.you should have a pretty healthy power curve on the jug. on motor only the 4:10 would be a better choice but i say stick with 3:89.
