Default Moser 9" housing drain plug location

I forgot to have them weld in a drain plug . Where's a the best place? On the very bottom of the housing in the middle, or on the bottom but off to one side? I'd like it to be magnetic.

When it comes from moser with one, it is directly in the middle of the housing.

it gets every drop. we put it on the flat part of the bottom, to the furtherest point that was still flat on the right hand side.

if i had any concerns about not getting all of the oil, i could always just jack the rear axle up on side a little more

I'm surprised you can even get them without a drain plug (yes mine missing the plug too). It must be one of those cost saving measures done to keep the price down to a measley $2500!

The gear lube is thought of as a non maintainance item, meaning you keep it full and thats it. In reality it would be nice to have a drain plug as a standard item. Bob

Well I see I am not the only one that forgot to order one lol. I got one ordered from Bob the other day and once it gets here I will be having it welded in and getting my relos welded in as well. Its nice to have a REALLY REALLY good welder that lives across the drive and brings the work truck home with the welder in it. All I should have to do is get it all ready and catch him when he is home. I can weld but for things like this why take chances. Some of the welds he does at work get xray checked and pass so I would assume he can go a little work on the rear without a problem. I can't wait to get the nine inch in the car as well as all the rear end suspension lca panhard new tq arm thats tunnel mount and the relos. Should make the car launch much better and I wont have to worry about it blowing the rear or listen to it whine everytime I drive it.

Looks like you could get relos on them too.

I might just drill a hole slightly off the the side and install a magnetic 1/2" pipe thread plug. If that ends up being shitty, I can still have a bung welded in.
