Mine make some noise, I even had the gears checked by a shop and they said they were setup perfect. Its not to bad, as long as they dont get any louder. It sounds like a crap shoot with the gear sets.

Sorry to hear you are having problems, mine have been completely quiet, it had some added noise from the torque arm but no gear noise.

If they are loud you need to pull the gearcase out and inspect and reset them if needed. If you learn how to read the patterns, the 9" is rather easy to setup. Pinion shim changes and pattern checks go very quickly compared to the mega PITA of a 10 or 12 bolt.

If you dont get them in check, they will be whiney forever once they are worn in.

Gears are a funny thing. Sometimes setting them up on a bench new does not do the trick. Sometimes you have to run them and go back and tweak it till its right.

SLP: You can post pattern pics and we will help you out.

I spoke with Eric and my rear is back at the shop being put together. I pick it up next friday so I get the whole weekend to finish yanking the 10 bolt out and installing the 9". Chris1313,,Heymoej,,Mattd or anyone else wanna grab a lane? Plenty of snow and ice here so Hopefully my nittos outhook those ET streets, HAHA. I cant wait to finally get a good launch at the track. Previous best 60' is 1.98 on the nittos. Gonna try them at first and maybe ill get the prostars for the rear and throw some e.t. streets on.

I don't believe so. Motive is the standard gear with Richmond being an upgrade, I believe.

So this could be a reason why some guys have gear whine and others don't as opposed to theory of it not being set up right.....just a thought.
