going back to 2.73s??

im thinking about going back to my 2.73's since traction is non existent with my 3600vig and 3.73's and a turbo is going on in a few weeks so that will make it even worse

i figure my turbo will still spool up quick since i have such a big stall, and i will see more plus sides to 2.73's (better traction on the street and track, better fuel economy, and a lot higher top speed)

i dont think going back to the 2.73's will have a big impact on my 1/4 mile time since i have a stall and turbo that spools perfectly in that rpm range, im willing to lose .1sec for the added benefits

am i looking at this the right way or should i stick with the 3.73's

(ohh i also have my stock 10bolt, so i dont run slicks or DR's, this car may see the track twice a year at best.. its mainly for street applications, and some interstate runs from time to time)

with a stall 2.73's arent that bad. with a power adder they would work even better.

Go for it, i had intentions on going with the exact same setup your speaking of, but i was gonna drop down to 3.23's,....2.73's would be be the ultimate gear as long as they can work for your setup well enough to suit your needs and I believe you can make it happen. You definitely have my vote.

longer gears with power makes the car feel like it pulls harder imo

I think your logic is sound. It doesn't matter how much power you have - if you can't get traction, you're going nowhere in a hurry.

thanks for the input...

i cant wait to get everything done and feel the difference from a dig (traction wise) as well 40mph rolls and top end.. the increased gas mileage will sure be nice if i can keep my foot out of the gas

ill post up the results when everything is done (should be a few weeks)

It will be harder on the trans. The 2.73's are a thicker gear so they will hold up better. I doubt the 2.73's will help with traction when that turbo spools. I'd go to a lower flash stall speed 2.73's will raise the stall speed and you will have more power from the turbo as well so you might end up with a super loose setup.

im not worried about the trans, it is fully built and has a "full warranty even if its a track car and runs 9's".. the trans was built by the best in florida (Fernando at transmission physicians)

i may get mine re-stalled a bit lower depending on what the outcome is (i get 1 free re-stall :) )

I too thought about this aas well since I wil be doing something similar but not that low of gears though. I will be getting a 9'' so I thought atlest no larger thatn 3.50's but now I am thinking like you and some 3.25's. I wil have a 3000 stall in my 4l80e though, I think that your stall is too high for a turbo.

The added torque from the turbo is going to cause the converter to stall much higher. Hopefully you went with the triple disc converter, shown here. http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com...html?item=1266
I don't think the single disc is going to hold up behind the turbo, same goes for that 10 bolt rear. Bob

sounds like a good idea, it should actually be faster depending on wheel spin
