Default help gear pattern?
hey i am installed my gears for the second time this week i messed up the first time and i think i need a new shim for my pinion... anyone care to give some info about what the pattern tells?

these pics are with stock shim and backlash .005

Doesn't look bad on the drive side. Hard to tell on coast. Some one else may have a better eye then me. These pics might help you compare. Here is my set up when I installed mine. I have no noise on drive or coast. They are GM Superior Gears 4:10's with .005 backlash, reused my factory pinion shim.

it wined real bad on accel so i took the rear all apart again and am going to change the shim around i think the pinion is to shallow.

Backlash could be too tight, what di dyou set it at?

I Also Noticed When I Pulled The Rear Apart Last Night The Preload On The Pinion Became Alot Less Than What I Originally Set It At Why Would That Be?

Pinion preload lessens with usage(for new bearings).
New bearings that started at a 20 in.lb. preload could drop to/settle in at 5 in.lbs.

OK THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING TO AFTER LOOKED AT THE INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS, DOES TO DEEP MEAN I NEED LESS SHIM? OR MORE SHIM?

Try about a .028" pinion shim and open up backlash to avout .010". That would be my starting point for these gears.
