Default 2:73s to 3:42s How much of a 1/4 time gain?

First Question #1
How much could I expect to pick up in the 1/4 switching these gears.
Right now I run 13.5@104mph with the 2:73s. Thats with an A4. Second Question #2
I have a rear end girdle to put on it too. Can I expect this rear end to hold up at the track with drag radials?

The rear should hold, what size stall do you have? How much does your car weigh?

The car weighs 3640 with me in it. I have the stock converter in it still.

Get rid of the stock converter and leave the gears. You'll pick up more with a converter swap than you will a gear swap. After doing gears, there will only be a .10 difference in ET from a 2.73 to a 3.42 when using a high stall converter.

hate to say but bigger stall is the only thing us auto guys can do to go faster. And believe me you will not regret going big, anything less than 3600 is a waist of time an money

so with a 2.73geared car you would recommend a converter before, say 3.73 gears

yes with stock stall on mine and 2.73 i ran a best of 12.92 and then when i added the 3600 stall it dropped to 12.05 then added the ms4 and heads i went to a 11.60. a stall will wake the 2.73 up really good and you still have your 29 mpg on the highway at least thats what i got, city droppped to about 17
