Question Richmond 4.10 gears

Thinking about getting a set but there's been at least a couple reported failures. Any other people have experience here? Don't wanna drop $1000+ only to have the teeth knocked out after 100 miles.

yea I haven't heard of many bad cases of these. There have been bad batches of gears before, but it is likely an install issue. We have the Richmond 4.10 and 3.73 gears as well as kits available on our website (see sig)

just too bad your not giving enough parts to set up the new gears,, the richmond 1/2 kit does not include any side shims and i have not set one up yet that could re-use the factory shims

We always recommend the full install kit, even on low mileage vehicles (just our experience). Nothing worse than fishing around for additional parts in the middle of a job! Just our $0.02. Either way, always support your sponsors!

We also carry the gears and complete install kit/fluids.

We also recommend the full install kit. It is the only kit we will use with in shop installs.

We just did a gear swap to 4.10 richmond no problems whatsoever. No noise at all and a durable gear when installed properly.

and all the sets with failures were improperly installed? don't bet on it. several very reputable shops have had failures. there is an issue with the gears that richmond hasn't admitted as of yet

I did not say all failures are due to improper installation. If you do gear swaps enough you will see some failures in gears and sometimes there are bad batches of gears from the manufacture i set up a fair amount rears and very rarely ever have a problem. Are you saying that richmond in general is having a problem or is it specific to the new generation camaros?I have done about 4 in the past couple months and no issues.Any "reputable" shop can have problems its just part of the business.

The gears provided by richmond for the 2010 camaro are having problems. i don't know of any problems with gears made for other cars or trucks.

I bet it aint the gears, It's the installation. Lets see some patterns on these bad gears.

Go ahead Tiny, show'em how to set the R&P correctly.. LOL

How sure of this are you. You get this info from Richmond? Name the shops so we can get clarification. Any Sponsers rep'n Richmond in here wanna shed some light on this alleged product defect being reported.

nickey chevrolet and jannetty racing have reported failures of these gears with a perfect install.

richmond gear wouldnt even send 1 of the bad sets back to the owner after they did there testing,, the owner wanted to do some independent hardness testing so richmond just gave him his money back instead of sending him back the bad gears.

Here's another set. My Richmond 4.33's were installed by reputable shop (sponsor on here) on August 6th. I had the car out Friday evening and did a 1/2/3 blast down the road only to have this happen.....

The only mods my car has are a Roto-fab cold air, and Kooks LT's (stock tune).

looks the same as the others that have broken, richmond has some issuse going on here. really sucks that no other gear companies have stepped up to make camaro gears, and richmond knows this and are selling them for a premium price,, over double what any other ring and pinions sell for,, at least with all the profit they are making on these gears they should have no problem covering warranty on them(you would think)
