Default odometer / speedometer same part?

hey

I would like to know if in the 5th generation the odometer gear and speedometer gear are the same part?

are they located in the transmission linked to the dashboard with a cable ?

There is no gear for the odo. It's all electronic.

They work seperately. You can unhook the speedo and your odo will still tick.

It's recorded in the BCM and broadcast to the display on the cluster. Its a combination of the VSS in the trans, and the abs sensors at the wheels, and is tied into the tune of the car.
