Default Ls3 or l99

I'm getting a good deal or I think it is anyway on a 2014 engine and tranny out of a camaross(auto) my question is how can I tell if it is a true ls3 or a l99? I've been reading up and if I understand correctly automatic camaro's all have l99 but I've also read that 2014-2016 camaro's have ls3 regardless if they are auto or manual. How can I tell for sure?

Auto was only l99. look at front cover youll see vvt actuator and valley will have lots of tracks for afm. not flat and smooth.

I will drive over to his shop today and make sure its an l99 now that I know what to look for. That being said would $3300 be a fair price on this engine and tranny? (Has 46000 miles ) i was starting an lq4 build that I was going to put aside for what I thought and was told was an ls3

So I stopped by the shop and you were correct it is a l99 with vvt after telling my buddy that he said he'd take 3k engine and tranny ... can I do the same as I planned with the lq4 which is intake and carb? Would that cancel out the vvt?

You would need to delete both afm and vvt to run the carb.
Email me and i can get you everything you need at the best price anywhere plus we sell the msd box and intakes and carbs as well!!
