ZL1 vs Z28 & Why Gen V LT1 Should be used
Ok so obviously breaking news about the 2014 Z28 using the LS7 but Why LS7? Who here thinks they should use the new DI LT1?!
Post your opinions who will do better at nurburgring (ZL1 vs Z28)
Other then that the car looks pretty sweet . Looks more like a 69 then the previous face lift! They did a great job with the looks and weight but IMO not the engine. Just think they should of done the Z28 before the ZL1. IMO Z28 should have a 550hp LT/1
Just wondering what the 6th gen camaro will look like...

the new lt1 is 450hp vs the ls7s 500? I'm sure they're working on a c7 zo6 and a zr1 but its just not there yet. I just hope the new 2015 camaro will be a real change (less weight, new lt1 to beat the coyote and for the zl1 and z28 if they're still around, enough power to keep up with the gt500.)

that's the only issue with the gen V.........they got the right idea they tried to take weight out of it and they dropped in the LS7 which IMO is the best motor GM has ever developed thus far......its still 3900 lbs though! ........so we've got an LS7 powered battle tank still.......until they get that boat down to 3500 I just think they're spinning their wheels

I heard reports the Z28 will do 3 seconds faster at nurburgring?! In all honesty I would take the Z28 before the new C7. The new corvette looks kinda ugly in my opinion.

It has to be a fun car. a little more power, less doo dads than a zl1. I think they are just buying time before the next completely camaro comes out. I'm not looking forward to lt1 in anything

Id rather the z28. the car looks amazing +500 hp na. And if you got the money you could supercharge the ls7 and make it faster the the ZL1 with the LSA in it.

Has anybody ever noticed how close the Z06 and ZR1 are usually when comparing track times? Pretty damn close a lot of the time. HP obviously isn't everything on a road track.
I think that the lighter, NA (not as many cooling issues) Z28 will be a stiff competitor for the ZL1, especially with the smaller diameter wheels with 305 tires all the way around.

I like what Im seeing with the 2014 z28, I luv the idea of the LS7 engine, its time proven and I'm thinking cheaper than going with the latest technology which typically adds costs. I have complained so much in the past about the 5th Gen and its looks. Finally the 2014 has improvements that has me looking at it again, the brakes and rims on the z28 are beautiful. I want the car for a daily driver so Im still going to want sound deadening, AC, decent radio, nav on screen, recaros, sunroof, etc so I hope they offer most of the options like the engine, suspension, brakes and such in a package for daily driving. The problem I have is I'm looking at cars for this year and not next, and when they do come out the stealerships will be asking premiums on top of the probable $50000 MSRP.

Too bad the 2014 ZL1 is retaining the current front fascia (for cooling purposes), because it sounds like that's what you want lol. Z28 is a road legal racecar

LS7’s are great N/A as an Gen 2 LT1 but I hear neither like boost because of the thin blocks and hyper pistons?! But from factory im assuming they rate the engine 500 crank HP and about 460rwhp?!
Cant wait to see the Z28 vs the overly powered GT500.
BTW mike diablo; When the new LT1 hits the streets would you think people would bypass and hack the computer? We might need to call Bill Gates on this one!

Any Gen5 is going to have weight issues. They're a freaking tank! I think the LS7 is better than the LT1 just because of all the aftermarket parts. Once the Aftermarket catches up, I still think the LS7 is the better choice, like stated before, it's the best motor GM has made to date.
Even if I got a Gen5 Z28 or regular SS, I'd be dropping weight out of that B like a bad habit.

It's the first year of the LT1. The Corvette needs to maintain its "special features" for it's loyal Vette owners. They get all the new stuff first, when better stuff comes along, the other cars get the hand me downs. Same story with the LS1 in 1997 and obviously the LS7 now. The LS7 in the new Z is cool, but they need to figure out a way to make that car lighter without deleting the modern amenities. Fiber-glass? Carbon fiber? Aluminum? There's a way...they need to figure it out. I'm leaning towards the Corvette...a 12.0 1/4 on street tires?? That's quick and guess what? It still has GPS, a radio with speakers, and AC!!!
