Well, no wonder the v6 makes great power its DOHC technology.
Reminds me of the 350Z as far as the engines concerned. I like it an all, but it weighs a clear 200 lbs more then the base Mustang GT. I wonder which weighs more the Camaro v6 or the SS. I mean the LS engine should weigh less than that of a DOHC setup of any size almost.

Overall, the SS still weighs a little bit more than the V6.

I did forget things like bigger rotars and etc on the SS would make it weigh more too. I think its great that the Camaro has a DOHC motor as an option. It looks like the OHC design has become the favorite amoung all car makers for fuel friendly small engine design.

I wish those were the only offerings from GM, besides a few trucks, they are the only real products worth mention, and god are they beautiful

The new v-6 is cool as hell. almost as fast as the mustang gt 0-60 and only half a second slower in the 1/4 mile!!
The v-6 camaro will be the lightest model, due to an aluminum block and heads.
I would love to see what this car can do with a couple of turbos!

Well, the V8 models will have aluminum block and heads as well.
But yes, the V8 is still rated as being a little heavier (though I'm not sure the V8 motor itself actually weighs more than the V6 motor).

I was interested in this too, and according to Wiki its 370lbs dry, which is 20lbs lighter than the LS1. But there is no cited source for this so who knows...

I love the chipped paint and taped interior of the test mule. Hilarious that beater got such praise from those fellows. Hell, then even referred to it as the "American G37". If a beat on, base model test mule can impress those jaded bastards, imagine what a decked out SS is going to do.

I'm usually one to expect the worst and hope for the best, but I honestly smell a hit with this one. Although the economy is rough, this one's going to attract attention.

I'd reckon my biggest fear is dealers pulling another Challenger on us and raping folks on the first run.

Yes but wasn't the Challenger a semi limited production at first? GM is planning on a full scale production at launch

That made me do a double take, very interesting to read that.
