Default Stock Eliminator 2010 Camaro

I would like to see GM build a factory-prepped super stock/stock eliminator Camaro with an LS7 under the hood. Now that Ford has their new Cobra Jet and Dodge has the Super Stock Challenger Drag Pak it would only be fitting. What do you guys think?

Yes they do, and the first issue they should take care of is the unions.

Seriously. Just found this article, right before I got onto LS1Tech. I don't mean to thread hijack, but it after pensions and healthcare, and all the goodis UAW members get from GM, comes to $69/hr per employee. Toyota ends up paying $53/hr per employee. So if GM has how many workers? And they are losing $16/hr per employee, every day... that adds up

From what I hear, the cuts they are making are quite stupid. Not using the elevators in the evening, and cutting back to only buying black pens. I was talking to the sales manager at the dealership I work at a couple of weeks ago and he said there was quite a few pointless cutbacks.

Also, if GM would pursue doing a build like that, those Camaro's would go like hot-cakes. I do not care how bad the economy is. I do like seeing that NicKey has somthing in the works. I think it would be cool to see a COPO build.

I kind of agree as far as the market is concerned. Specialty racers like the ones being proposed here tend to be high priced. And as such they most often end up in the hands of higher end buyers for whom the current economic woes tend to be less incumbent upon. Look at the Cobra Jet Mustangs that were mentioned.......only 50 built, 70K pricetags..........they were all spoken for before they finished rolling out the factory. But I guess the real issue is whether GM can free up the assets to have such cars built at their own facility. It's the overhead that might play the biggest role in keeping a factory Camaro racer from getting built, at least right now. The market, on the otherhand, would gobble them up.

But I wouldn't worry, I'm sure there are plenty of aftermarket companies waiting to build whatever GM doesn't. Just bring your wallet, and they will build it.

See to me, even though i'd love to see one, I couldn't see real world sales being all that high for what an LS7 equipped Camaro would cost. I would imagine that would almost start to delve into Corvette teritory and market. I love the sound of that idea though, and the idea of a limited number of these being made is actually believable.

While Im definitely liking a "special edition" high end camaro idea, in order for the posters idea to work (A NHRA stock/super stock car) it has to be a factory option something produced by chevy at some point, even just one car (Even in an auction as long as it had a RPO for the upgrades) that was sold to the public, to be legal (As such any Z28 concepts floating around if they were ever built would not be legal since they were never a RPO, at least not yet)

Hence any mods by aftermarket companies, unless they were sanctioned as an option like the Firehawk, must fall within the modding rules for stock and super stock. (IE for stock they couldnt supercharge it or modify the cam.)

All of the Cobra Jets were built by Roush at his factory in Mi. I assume it's a factory option and Ford just had Roush build them, but it still doesn't really fall into the factory built category. Dodge is building the Challenger race car themselves as far as I know. Unfortunately as stated earlier GM is not in the position finacially to build any special cars. Maybe they can pull themselves out of the hole in the next few years and repay their loans, but that's years away at this point.

If I had money, I would buy a Camaro, If I had money, I would buy a Stock Eliminator 2010 Camaro with an LS7. Its all about what no one has.
