Reading threads and articles all over, iv heard many different things. Such as there will be a ss model with a supercharged v8 which there calling ls8 (seems to be a detuned ls9). so im trying to find out if this is true or if something else is in the works or should i go ahead and get the best they got since that will be all that's offered. I don't have any facts but I doubt we say any other V8's than the LS3. The old 3rd gen's ran with the 305 & 350 TPI for 5 years, 88-92 I belive. LT1's were from 93-97 and LS1's were from 98-'02, each time the new engine was debuted in the Corvette the year before. LS3 came out in 08 in the Vettes so I'd expect a 4 yr run in the Camaro. Assuming the Camaro lasts that long...

The sticky at the top of this section entitled "The Z28 is STILL NOT dead!!!" Not to mention all the online articles discussing the chances of the LSA powered Z28 coming to the lots.
Why are you (or anyone) complaining about the hierarchy of the Camaro badges? The SS badge has been slapped on almost every vehicle in the Chevy lineup. I think the exclusivity of the Z28 name would work well as top dog of the Camaros. Others may not agree, and that's fine. But when you say "SS," no one knows what you are talking about unless you say "SS Camaro", or "SS Impala." When they say Z28 or Z06, there is no doubt what vehicle is being talked about.

Pick up any new magazine with an article on the Z28. I think even Scott Settlemire said there could be a Z28 model with limited production as an ultra-high performance model. Something to compete with the GT500 market.

wow, i cant believe this discussion. hasnt it been know about what was possibly coming out in the camaro line up? this info has been out for a really long time. whether it will happen like that remains to be seen...
yes, i think is weird that the Z28 is going to be the high horsepower car. the 302 powered trans am race car was the Z28, and the big brute that didnt do anything except accelerate was the ss396. ive obviously got a 1996 ss (or z28 ss), which was the high HP camaro for the 4th LT1 cars, although it was the same motor and did have some mild chassis upgrades available.
being bias to the SS badge, i thought the Big dog should have had the ss badge, while the Z28 was the road race focused car.
Oh well.
