I guess I'm the only one that's disappointed to see a car with 100 horsepower more than the 4th gens run hardly any better than the 4th gens? It doesn't matter if it "can do 12's easily". It has 100 HORSEPOWER MORE and it can manage two tenths faster than the 4th gens? The frame of this car is a horrible design. It needs to be on a much smaller platform. Say, 500 pounds smaller. This car should have been designed to go 12.5 with an average driver. NOT 13.0-13.5. That's 4th gen territory.

Why does every 2010 SS thread end up being a comparison between the 4th gen F-Body and the new Camaro? The new Camaro is a better car in EVERY objective way. Sure its heavier but they've improved in nearly every way. The LS3 still has a LOT more potential than the LS1 does, its like going from an LT1 to an LS1.
Most people who strongly defend the 4th gen compared to the new Camaro are probably just jealous, subliminally or not. Plenty of people could care less about the new Camaro, and they do just that.... they don't care enough to even talk about it.

Pros (for the 5th gen)
- LS3 engine. (Not that concerned - I'm getting an LS3 swapped into mine).
Cons (against the 5th gen)
- Excessive weight (affects overall performance)
- Don't like the retro styling
- 20" wheels (no one makes suitable road race or autocross tires for it)
- Don't know how much adjustibility is worked into the suspension
For a weekend playtoy / autocross / HPDE car the fact that the car has more comfort and convenience features than my 4th gen doesn't interest me. From a pure performance standpoint, the 4th gen works out as a much better proposition. If I were looking at it from a purely daily driver stand point, that analysis might change.
Not all 4th gen holdouts are jealous of the 5th gen. I'd probably say a lot of us don't see a big enough improvement in the performance numbers to spend that kind of cash on the new car.
Personally, I hope the 5th gen is a success, GM could use it.
