Default Dr Phils 2010 2SS Camaro

I know it might not be a big deal but for Woodward, OK its news (even though not many people know it) but Dr Phil ordered a 2010 Camaro 2SS from our Chevy Dealership and I got to see it and snap a few pics as it was being loaded onto the trailer so I figured I would share its #5 off the production line Jay Leno also ordered one but in Orange it hasnt arrived yet Sorry for the pics being so bad camera was on the wrong setting

That's amazing. Does your dealer have some kind of hookup to celebrities? Both Dr. Phil AND Jay Leno ordered from the same dealership? wow

Hope so but doubtful. The other website that this site one let me type lol only managed a 13.5@107 out of a new one...those numbers arent going to make an LS owner run out and buy a 5th. gen for 30-40k...Cars over 4,000 pds w/ driver.

GM and all the magazine companies managed a 13 flat....with a good driver it can do 12s easy.

I guess I'm the only one that's disappointed to see a car with 100 horsepower more than the 4th gens run hardly any better than the 4th gens? It doesn't matter if it "can do 12's easily". It has 100 HORSEPOWER MORE and it can manage two tenths faster than the 4th gens? The frame of this car is a horrible design. It needs to be on a much smaller platform. Say, 500 pounds smaller. This car should have been designed to go 12.5 with an average driver. NOT 13.0-13.5. That's 4th gen territory.

i was honestly hoping from a better stock time from this car. BUT, what its up against price range wise it runs fine.

potential of these cars will be killer however. expect more than 50% of sales to be v6s anyway.

If you want a lighter Camaro, talk/write to your congressman/woman.

Why does every 2010 SS thread end up being a comparison between the 4th gen F-Body and the new Camaro? The new Camaro is a better car in EVERY objective way. Sure its heavier but they've improved in nearly every way. The LS3 still has a LOT more potential than the LS1 does, its like going from an LT1 to an LS1.

Most people who strongly defend the 4th gen compared to the new Camaro are probably just jealous, subliminally or not. Plenty of people could care less about the new Camaro, and they do just that.... they don't care enough to even talk about it.

I was expecting this car to run lower 12's from the factory...Seeing them still in the 13's when there was ls1 fbods stock that have hit 12's kinda stinks. Weight and those big wheels are a killer.

I'd entirely disagree. For me, the 5th gen gets compared to my fourth gen and I make the following analysis:

Pros (for the 5th gen)
- LS3 engine. (Not that concerned - I'm getting an LS3 swapped into mine).

Cons (against the 5th gen)

- Excessive weight (affects overall performance)
- Don't like the retro styling
- 20" wheels (no one makes suitable road race or autocross tires for it)
- Don't know how much adjustibility is worked into the suspension

For a weekend playtoy / autocross / HPDE car the fact that the car has more comfort and convenience features than my 4th gen doesn't interest me. From a pure performance standpoint, the 4th gen works out as a much better proposition. If I were looking at it from a purely daily driver stand point, that analysis might change.

Not all 4th gen holdouts are jealous of the 5th gen. I'd probably say a lot of us don't see a big enough improvement in the performance numbers to spend that kind of cash on the new car.

Personally, I hope the 5th gen is a success, GM could use it.
