Default Cam install complete: 497 HP 451 TQ!

Started on this late Fri evening, got it set this evening after working on it off and on from about noon till 7.

Lots of putzy work when doing a cam on one of these cars... I think my personal fav is the stretch belt for the a/c compressor:fire

Pulled the intake off to clean the oil residue out of it from the breather.

Kinda start to the point where the stock cam comes out. Gotta love blowing apart a brand new car with 4k miles on it!.

Mod list:

Roto-fab CAI, 160T-stat, Ebay 1-5/8" catless long tubes, stock mid pipe(s), JBA axleback, 231/247 113LSA Cam, 7.400PR's, PRC 650 springs and of course the ever important tune. Ive got less into this car in parts than what most pay for a complete exhaust system for those who are budget concious.

Vid up first:

This is a new LSR grind, Comp Cam specifically for rectangle port heads: .617/.624 - 231/247 113LSA

Sounds like what a muscle car should sound like. Thats what I want to do alittle later, need to raise some more funds, do more side jobs.I've already got a Rotofab,1 7/8 Kooks LT headers with high flow cats and a tune. Pulled 421HP 419TQ. I kept the stock exhaust on it for now, it actually sounds pretty good. What did that kit run you? Did you have to pay for the tune?

The cam i hand selected, the springs/pushrods came from TSP as their PRC 650 kit. I do all the tuning my self, and i moonlight at a speed shop with a mustang dyno so my car found its self strapped down on a sunday between customer cars lol

i can't believe anyone would even make a 1.625" header for these cars... hafta ask, y did u buy them knowing that they were so small?
and y do mustang dynos always use the weirdest rpm numbers?? 4009, 4317, 4624, whats up with that? y not just go every 250 so its easy to read, 4000, 4250, 4500... whats WCF that added 12hp/11tq?
thats a big cam, how does it run below 3200, thats where it looks like it comes on...

Because i dare to be different, and i couldnt beat the price lol. They seem to support this HP just fine though... so i have to ask, why go bigger at this point?

WCF is weather correction factor, just fixes the numbers for what it would be like at 70F and 20% humidity etc... the 484/444 are the raw, uncorrected #s.

Drives great for the most part, has some bucking that im trying to polish out right now with good success. WOT is done the driveabilty stuff ill dick with this week.

I don't know what you paid for the Ebay headers, but I got a set of coated pacesetter 1.75" headers with connector pipes for $599. our cams are close, I have a little more duration on both ends & mine's a 113+2, but it's a nitrous cam, even thought it makes over 480 RWHP NA, over 670 on a 150 shot & don't have dyno numbers on the200 shot. Car has had the hell raced out of it, 9k miles & I see many years of 10 second passes in it before I build a bottom end.

So here is one for the books! As you know i put the stock cat-back back on it, well i first dynoed it SINCE then today. The car belted out a max of 501.8HP and 460.7TQ today, and backed it up with a 499.6 and 457.0 immediately after! The highest tq was on the 1st pull at 466 ft/lbs! So it didnt loose power, it gained a few and gained a max of 15 ft/lbs and avg of 10 ft/lbs with the STOCK cat-back back on the car! Dyno sheets will get posted tomorrow and there was even video taken of the 499 pull and a celebration burnout vid where you can see the stock garbage cans for mufflers for any doubters hahah

My only issue with this is that its a mustang dyno which is notoriuous for reading low . Would be more believeable if you were on a dynojet. just saying.

Nice numbers...looks like the cam swap was a little easier with RWD.

You need to check your dyno settings , thats way way high , I'm sure you gained a lot but 500 whp on a mustang dyno is insane for cam only with stock heads ,,, Not hatin just amazed ,Thats like 550+ on a dyno jet ...

I agree... I'm running 1 7/8" headers, full 3" exhaust and a much bigger cam, UD pulley, CAI etc. and only came in at 475 rwhp. And that was on a dynojet.

5 years ago that stuff about mustang dyno would be correct, but the newer mustang dynos I have seen read higher than a dynojet.

Id say this one is right on par with a dynojet. It was just checked up by MD back in Jan, as it always does once a year.
