Default LS3 or L99 Can you tell from the pic?

Can someone please help identify this engine from this pic? This is the only pic I currently have of it.

Looks like an LS3 based off of the valley cover. LS3 and L99 are the same motor/block, L99 has AFM and LS3 does not.

True LS3 block has no AFM oil ports under the valley cover.
LS3 or L99 either one if your just buying it for the block 3K is a bit high.

L99 has valve reliefs in the pistons so it does appear to be LS3 since it has the flat top pistons...3k is an excellent price as long as you are getting the complete long block and not just a short block and the only thing truly wrong is bad lifter thats an easy fix

As stated above 3k for just that short block and no heads/intake is prob about $500-$1000 too high

I agree.

I wouldn't pay 3k for a short block with bad lifters. If the lifter rollers are the problem it will eat the cam and put metal in the motor. Most cases it doesn't hurt it but if it's bad enough it could be an issue.

You should be able to find a long block without problems for close to 3k maybe 3500. Just have to be patient and keep looking.
