2009 camaro engine!?
#81
I read where the LS8 is more or less dead due to the new CO2 requirements. Then saw where the new Camaro ( if it even makes it into production ) will come with the 3.4 or 3.6 ltr six. Next will be the Z/28 with the 5.3 V8 , and the SS with the LS2 engine . This to me makes more since & might be able to slip this past the bean counters & the EPA with a Democrat in office .

base camaro v-6 250hp engine, v8 305 301 hp motor, z28/ss 350 or 383 motor with 400hp thats my guess.....there is probably going to be special editions and all that other **** but i doubt that it will get a ls3 on a regualr z28.....we should start a bet whoever nails it gets to kick everybody else in the *****

The Hyundai genesis coupe will base with a four-cylinder TURBO, and end up with a big six. The 4-cyl is going to be around $20k, the V6 around $25K.
GM is also going to have two sixes, one with badass fuel economy, one with a more premium edge to it. Personally, I wish they would just mimic Hyundai and make the base model an ecotec turbo.

Posted on a local car forum from a big GM dealer here-
"the GM rep that was just here told me that the base V6 is going to be a 250hp 3.6L, then a 3.6 VVT engine that makes around 300hp (Cadillac is using it in the CTS currently) and then an LS2 V8 that makes 400hp. I want the LS3 Supercharged V8 they have been teasing me with for too damn long"

i'll say it.
there isnt a 2007 RWD V8 3000lb car on the road. the corvette weighs more then that.
there isnt a 2007 fullsize sedan, regardless of engine, on the road that weighs less then 3000.
people want that "solid car" feeling. that means stiffer design. they also want more room inside. it must still meet crash standards. that means weight to compensate the design to meet all the criteria.
weight, to the non-performance crowd, is a non issue. so to the far majority of car buyers, its a non issue.
of the remaining performance entheusiests, 90% of them NEVER goto a racetrack of any kind. so if you up the power, it FEELS faster.. and to them, it is faster.
that leaves us as a VERY SMALL market segment, most of us choosing older cars anyway, not new.
so its almost a fact that the new camaro will weigh alot compared to third and fourthgens. you cant argue that it is not a reasonable expectation.
you can either accept this, and MAYBE be pleasantly surprised.. or you can keep calling people dumbasses for not sharing your cheerful optimism.

I've read just a few of your ridiculous comments. Bro, were all GM fans and for you to come on here and say crap about how they used to be slow, etc is stupid. Go somewhere else with your useless information. Then is not now and GM cars are dominate cars on the street. Hell a 93 LT1 is a good race with an 08 mustang GT...No one wants to hear your sh*t. Also, back in the day things were way different and GM was not crappy then. Every car was slow in the early 80's...GM was still where it is today. Just better now because of the c6 zo6. Get out of the thread and go buy a miata or something. Your one of those people who aren't happy about anything. Why don't you just make a motor and show everyone up? Smart a$$...Let me guess democrat?
His comments were perfectly acceptable, and I agree with him almost 100%. YOU are the one with f#cked up opinions about ****...
GM doesn't have the ONLY dominant cars on the street buddy...Last time I checked, Terminators were taking heads and asking questions after the fact. And what about the quick imports? Evos and STi's aren't exactly pushovers...13.5 in the quarter is VERY respectable for a sedan under $30k...
Normally, I'm like, "GM, F#ck YEAH!", but this blind fanboyism is just retarded. There is nothing wrong with thinking GM is the best out there, but there are other cars out there that are fast...you might try doing some reading up on them!
For starters, do a search for "Porsche" or "Mopar"...

Well, a GM service rep I talked to today said the base motor in the camaro will be the HHR SS/Solstice GXP/Saturn Sky redline 260 hp turbo 4cylinder, then up to 300ish hp v6 direct injected ala cts followed by a 400 hp v-8. Don't hate the post, take it for what it's worth. The conversation started because he is driving a HHR SS, and stated that, that motor will be the base motor in a Camaro....

Omg.... there's no way. No matter what! Will the 2010 camaro have less then 500hp for the SS/Z28... the camaro engines are going to be detuned corvette engines. So LS2 is out, K people
