Although I do wonder what a 18-20" rallye replica would look like on one.

I guess I would go with the steel ones though....I like that look

I like the IROCs. 20" wheels on a street/strip car is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of! You want to buy 20" drag radials? NO! You want to know what kind of stress a 20" wheel will put on your drive line at launch? FAIL!

As far as the design goes, I dig the 18"s. They remind me of the wheels you could get through the 70s.

Nitto makes a 20" dr already in two sizes that would fit, one on stock rims and one on wider rims. 275/40R20 (28.82") and 305/35R20 (28.58"). Yuck. I would go with lightweight 18s in a 305/45R18 for the rear. That gives you a little sidewall to work with.

that would be great, but a 305 isn't going to fit on the stock 18's. its only 7.5" wide

unless you are talking about an aftermarket 18

Anything smaller than 20" is going to look tiny and weird on this car.

Just like 15s looked weird on the 4th gen Fbody? No. They'll look great but won't handle as well, which is ok by me.

I say 19s I would only have em on for a few months during the winter and how many of ya will keep the stock wheels on anyways? Gotta make it unique.

+1. Traction will already be an issue and people want 19 or 20 inch SUV bling bling wheels lol. And naturally they will have tires with no sidewall which will make it even worse. I would like to see 17's myself.

go big or go home lol... Maybe a staggered set with some wider rims for the back like 19x8 front and 20x9.5 or 10 rear... Although if my black ZR1's fit then those will go on...

Right, but I was mostly referring to the cost of a 20" drag radial compared to an 18" (which is still pricey).

Oh yeah. They are really expensive. The 20's are over 300 bucks apiece whereas the 275/40R17s are 180 retail. I've picked up Mickey Thompsons for less than that. The 315/35R17s are less than 200. In a couple of years, once there's more competition in the tire market for these sizes the prices should come down a bit, but not down to 17" tire prices.

the 17's look like crap and good luck getting the 18's, 19's or 20's to hook up from a dig. i would buy the 17's and throw em in the garbage along with the independent rear end and stock trans. put a Turbo 400 trans in the car with a HIGH stall converter and a trans brake. put a ford 9" with a spool in the rear with some smaller brakes and 15X10 wheels and 28" slicks. take as much weight out of the car as possible. mod the crap out of the motor and then spray the hell out of it and run 10 flat in the 1/4.

If Chevy was serious about improving MPG and horsepower-acceleration-braking-less weight -smoother ride & not to mention lower cost , then they would buck the styling trends and go back with 15" or 16" wheels & tires . And to cover those huge fender gaps just return to the 50's & 60's style of extending the fender & qtr. panels over the wheels with rounded bulges which look killer anyway .
