Default ls1 intake on 5.3?

I'm getting an ls6 intake for my formula soon, my dad has a like, 06 1500 long cab with the 5.3. Is it worth changing out the truck intake for my ls1 intake thats barely worth anything? If so roughly how much more horses? The truck only has a k&n drop in and descreened maf so far hehe. thanks.

it will bolt up but you need some custom intake piping becuase of the fan shroud being in the way, truck intakes are really good down low in the powerband, i say you might gain 5-8whp with the ls1 on there.

Your LS1 intake will not work on a truck motor because of the accessory drive system. You would need to change all of the accessories to an f-body setup. The truck manifold is physically much taller to accomodate for this.

Do some searching on the Performance Trucks site (the link up top), your LS1tech login works, there's a few guys there who have done the swap.

Also HOT ROD magazine has done some testing. You are better off with the truck intake actually.

the truck intake is better then the ls1 intake. dont change it.

I have the truck intake on my chevyII and it pulls great all the way to 7200 rpms. It started to become a restriction at 7000.
