Also OP take what you read on here with a grain of salt because in the end we all love these cars and may not agree with one another about the mods we choose.
One thing I have liked about this site for the past 4 years is the help you get when you need it...now you may get the idiots who think they can sway you into getting this and that because its what they would do but again buy what makes you happy and in the end thats all that counts.
I respect all cars BUT do not respect all the owners lol.

I never needed a car to get women, but I guess for those of you that need the help...

Three of my four cars are convertibles. One of them has
towed 3700lb of rock with one wheel broken off the trailer
(out of 2). There's a 2-mile gouge in my road to prove it.

Some people think life is too short to drink cheap beer.
Others are perversely proud to do so.

To me personally, if a car has a hardtop model, a t top model, a convertible model. I personally see no point having that last convertible model since the t top gives me the same outcome, but while keeping the look of the hardtop model. With that said, yes I know with a full on convertible(compared to a t top) has an even more open air feel, it's just my personal preference.

For me, personally I think the convertible destroys the look of a Trans Am, especially with the roof down. It just ******* flat lines like hell after the windshield. To a lesser extent the same thing with Camaros. There was a guy by my friends house that had a really nice LS1 red WS6 with c6 z wheels. Looked great but the convertible top really ruined it to me visually.

I love t tops. Out of the last 9 or so Camaros my dad and I have bought, 2 of them have been t top models(and only one was mine so I've only had 1 out of 4 that weren't hardtops) I seem destined to be stuck in a hardtop which includes my current 02 ss. Pulling them off to enjoy some open air while driving is great, and at the end of the day what's most important to me is you keep that hardtop look with the hatch and sail panel.

Of course it's all my personal preference. If you like verts over the other models then why give a **** what anyone else thinks. You like them, enjoy them, people just have different tastes.

Edit: The ONE exception I can make is if either a camaro or trans am convertible have a painted and matching tonneau cover. It seems to offset that flat look the car gets with the roof down, and just makes the car look like a completely better car styling wise.

4th gen fbody's dont look bad in covertible, but some cars look TERRIBLE as a convertible. It really all depends on the car. It seems that convertible corvettes are usually owned by old people trying way too hard to be "cool". (White or maroon car with a tan top, and tan leather interior seems to be popular among old people )

Here's some examples that come to mind:
C1 corvettes looks amazing with the top down, but bad with it up.
99-04 Mustangs look good with it up or down IMO
C4, C5, and C6's take the cake. They look like **** with the top down AND up.

I agree, a nice GT or even better a 03-04 Cobra looks great as a convertible if they have that nice wide roll bar.

I disagree. I think 4th gens fall into the category of cars that look bad as a convertible. They look ok with the top down, but not with it up (formal roof lines have no place on these cars).

I do agree that C4, 5 and 6 all look bad as convetibles as well. They also need that fastback/hatchback roof line to look proper (same as 4th gens). This is also why I visually dislike the C5 Z06 and FRC cars.

1) Top down is the reason you buy a convertible, so that's what matters.
2) Solid color cars (i.e. black car, black top) still look good with the top up. As bad *** as a hardtop car? No. But it looks pretty damn good.

03/04 Cobra's look alright in convertible, some Lamborghini's and Ferrari's, as well as purpose built roadsters such as the Viper, S2000, Miata, etc., etc.

Anything else I'm not a fan of. I think F-Bodies look especially bad in convertible, top up or down. Two very good friends of mine have convertible T/A's, one is a Black '99 with the Black ragtop, the other is a White '02 WS6 with the Tan ragtop. I love F-Bodies, but I would never in a million years have chose to buy either of them, they look hideous in my eyes. Plus, the fact that a lot of these have T-Top's makes it even stranger to me that people buy them, but, different strokes for different folks I guess.

My mom has the c5 ragtop in my signature i tried to talk her out of....she couldnt handle the targa top by herself being 4'10 tho.....

I think they (both fbodys and c5's and c6's) can pull it off as long as its not that GOD AWFUL red and tan top combo they keep producing....

I like my convertible. My car is silver with a black top, has the sport appaerance package, and has whistler'ed headlights and the rest of the lights smoked. If my car was just a "plain jane" car I don't think I'd like it. As far as driving it, I don't notice the noise and it handles fine for me, but it's my everyday car, or atleast was. Stupid LS1's lol. All in all I think that a 4th gen convertible has too look just right or it looks horrible.

Haha.... an SAP 'vert would be the least desireable combination possibile for me. I like the plain jane cars better. It's nice that they made all these different options to suit all of our different tastes.

But your car is silver, and that's my favorite color, so it gets points for that.

I think I speak for everyone when I say that the '98 corvette Indianapolis 500 pace car was the best convertible ever.
