Default Intake swap. Dirt under intake

I recently pulled my stock ls1 intake to install an ls6 intake. My car has 140k miles on it but it runs like a champ. When I pulled the intake I noticed that there was a ton of grimey dirt everywhere. It looks like a combination of old coolant and or oil. It is around the head bolts....hell I even found a small leaf under the intake when I pulled it. I was wandering if anyone has any suggestions on how to clean that up. I have the intake ports all blocked off with clean rags so nothing falls in but I kinda wanna clean that **** up before I put on the new intake. I'm a clean freak about my car and this just bugs me so what do i use to clean it? Should I waste my time or not? It's not like u will see it after the ls6 is on.

if you have a shop vac, those make it easier. make sure your intake ports are completely blocked off and spray it down with degreaser. if you don't have a shop vac just use a bunch of paper towels and clean away.

I just recently cleaned up a 5.3 that was like this and used a shop vac for the big stuff. Took my time cleaning around the intake ports till I could tape them off then just used a spray bottle with degreaser and rags to wipe it all clean.

Maybe it was the factory reminding us where they were assembled...

LOL no leaf here...just rusty knock sensors. With those miles you might want to change those while you have the intake off if you hadn't already.

Just think if a leaf can find its way into the heating system so it can make a racket when turn the fan on then getting under an LS6 intake is a piece of cake.

I bought a new set of intake port gaskets for my BBK intake and they came with 2 square pieces of adhesive back foam to put on the front and back of the intake to keep dirt from getting under there.

You should see all the underhood nests n animals we've been finding at the shop lately. Last Monday we found 4 baby squirrels or rats or something under the hood of an Envoy. Kept throwing an ATC encoder motor code, wonder why lol. Must be that time of the year. Yea theres nothing but space above the valley cover so **** just gets caught in there. A plug the intake ports and a little brake clean and some rags should do ya.

I did one with 188k. Tons of dirt and a few leaves. Used a shop vac! Easiest thing to do!
