WS7 was a term that some people applied to thier "converted" Formulas and Trans Ams. Add the hood, wheels, etc. but instead of labeling it a "WS6" since technically it's not, some guy overseas made some WS7 badges.

WS9 I'm not too sure about.

The WS7 option is the WS6 handling and performance package w/out rear disks. This was used last on the late second generation cars if I recall.

On the fourth gen cars its whatever the owner wants to call it.It was not an option available from the factory to the best of my knowledge.

Chad is correct, that's what the original WS7 stood for. But basically what everyone else said is true about why people put the WS7 on 4th gen cars. Either to show it's modded, or that it has the makings of a WS6, but isn't a real one.

ws7 is what suncoast calls thier hood package. GM sued suncoast over it (copyright) and I thought won. the term of win I beelibe allowed them to seel what remaining stock they had

WS9 in terms of the 4th gen is another made up name.

I've been curious about what WS9 means too, because on my RPO Codes sticker on my door, "WS9" is right next to the "WS6".

Hmm... All my searches come up with "Model Conversion Formula" for WS9. Also, I think technically even with a T/A it's still listed by people like insurance, etc. as a "Firebird Formula Trans Am".

WS9 is the Formula conversion Pkg
W66 is the Formula Merchandise Pkg
Y82 is the Trans Am Merchandise Pkg
All the V8 cars carry the WS9 Code, To be a Formula or Trans Am it must have the coresponding code aswell.
WS9 + W66 = Formula
WS9 + Y82 = Trans Am
WS9 + W66 + WS6 = Formula WS6
WS9 + Y82 + WS6 = Trans Am WS6
