What engine for build???????????????

Don't know much about LS type engines so bear with me.
A lot of experience with SBC and BBC in muscle cars and corvettes.
I did install a 2003 LS6 and T56 in a 67 Vette but never wired car or started it.
I'm back at it..............
My build is a 57 Vette that needs a nose which I can install.
I'm filling the firewall currently so it's nice and smooth.
Body sits on a Original boxed and fully welded frame that has had C4(1994)
Corvette suspension grafted on it and a narrowed 9" between custom rear frame rails.295/30/20 rear tires and once the front rims come it will have 225/45/18
Up front.Frame is set up for LS and T56.
I don't have a open check book and would like to have the car completely
Mocked together...running,stopping steering in the next 12 months.
Ready to pull apart and paint and restore etc over the following 12 months.
Here's where your knowledge comes in and my ears listen .
Definitely a T56 6 speed with a 3:50 posi 9" with a Detroit Locker and big
20x10 rims in the rear.
Where's my best bang for the buck with a used engine...............
Used GTO LS2/T 56
LQ9 and buy a T56 separately
Will a LS2 intake swap over to a LQ9?
L92............etc
No clue outside of the standard LS1,2,3,6
Want around 400-450hp.
Send original harness to Speartech or ???
Buy Stand Alone Harness?
Definitely going to be DBW
PS I'm not real good with wiring, but I can solder, if wires are labeled I should be good.
Let me know what I should be looking for
Thanks in Advance

LQ engine’s are plentiful and cheap but a Vette needs an all aluminum engine in my opinion for balanced handling and weight transfer. Both LS2 and 3 engine’s still command big bucks. I’d stick to looking for a 2000-04 LS1 and pop a 228/232 TSP CAM in it with LS2 timing chain, new OEM oil pump some 5/16” aftermarket push rods and dual springs. With headers and a nice tune you will have a nice sounding driver that meets your power goals :usa:

As for one of your questions, yes, a LS2 intake will swap right onto an LQ4 or an LQ9. The iron blocks will be far cheaper than the aluminum LS2 or LY6 engines. Slap on some 243/799 stock heads (milled if you are using a LQ4 block, ported if you have the $$$), a nice cam and full exhaust should get your right in your horsepower goals.

Gto ls-2

Hi RSW, I would choose the LS2/T56. (price ???)

I would fit my ECU-882C engine controller with harness and Software required for tuning.

You will have a 450HP engine.

I have the other items, pumps, relay boards, etc.

The L-92 would be a good choice if the LS-3 intake was fitted.
I would do a DBC.

So say I purchase a engine and tranny.
I install a cam,set of heads and a sheet metal intake.
I buy a stand alone or have original harness modified to one.
Would I then send out the PCM to a tuner with what cam/heads/headers etc
That I installed and they get me close to maximum output?
No rear Dyno near me or tuner I'm aware of.

Engine Tune

Hi RSW, we have a calibration for the stock LS-2 with bench dyno report.

This is what we load into our ECU-882C.

YOUR goal of 450 HP IS met WITHOUT cam changes.

Your Vette will be very fast AND lighter.

Why waste the cash ?

Those changes can make a 550 HP engine output, your choice ?

So say I buy a LS2/T56 GTO combo and send out the harness and have it converted to a Stand Alone.
I then send my computer to you and have it tuned or do I buy yours and simply plug into my Stand Alone?

ECU-882C Harness

Hi Dave, we create a new harness, top quality, to your specification.

You first mount the ECU in the location of your choice.
We then cut/connect/assemble your harness ALL NEW.
The cost is less than to rework a used harness.

The ECU is calibrated from a dyno tested session when received.
