Default Fbody 2 inch lt headers???

So I've been looking at some 2 inch lt headers for my Camaro but I have concerns with clearance on the bottom, currently I'm running 1 7/8 lt no cats going through an x pipe, it slightly scrapes on tall speed bumps,so would the 2inch give me less clearance?, or would it be the same... I'm also interested in the hp I can gain from the 2inch, I've also read it depends on the motor , my build is a iron 6.0 .30 over, wiseco forged pistons, k1 h beam rods ,stock Crank, tfs 225 heads, tfs 238/242 .595 595, fast 102/102tb,510+whp , is it a good upgrade, or should I get something in between? Any advice is appreciated

Seems likely that 2 inch primary headers with 3.5 inch collectors may loose a little ground clearance.

My guess is below 5,000 rpm the 1 7/8 and 2 inch will be similar in hp & tq. Above 5,000 rpm or so the 2 inch will likely to make more power. I've read on a 600 whp LS7 with 1 7/8 headers that 2 inch primary headers often pick up over 10 whp

On a otherwise stock LS3 the 2 inch are said to pick up ~5 whp & ~ 1 wtq. Per the link below.
5th Gen Camaro headers

Your car would probably gain a little more. If your going to add forced induction and shoot for big numbers it might be worth swapping to the 2 inch header. I'd keep the 1 7/8 if staying NA and buy something else for the car. Of course, only you can decide if the cost is worthwhile to switch.

This may be of interest it's a 1 7/8 vs 2 inch discussion for Ls7

Hmm makes sense, I've heard about 1.825 headers or something like that, what do you think about those?

What brand of 1 7/8 headers are on your car currently?

Not familiar with 1.825 as a header primary size.

1 3/4 = 1.75
1 7/8 = 1.875

1 33/40 = 1.825 , guessing someone wants exactly in the middle between 1 3/4 & 1 7/8 and went custom or did calculations for exact header size etc

I would definitely keep the current bigger 1 7/8 primary headers before going 1.825 based on the information currently available.

Must have gotten confused thanks for clearing it up, probably will get someone to custom Fab some headers in between 1 7/8 and 2inch, thanks

Edit fixed my cellphone typo,

1 33/40 = 1.825

What intake is on the engine?

Would a cam change with more exhaust duration get about the same gain on the top end as different headers?

Im running the fast102, I'm sure a cam would, but my headers are"hand me downs" from my brothers ls1, so a cam change is not something I was looking at, but I wanted to buy new ones so I was thinking make it some what of a upgrade rather then getting the same size

With that in mind, I suggest calling American Racing Headers & Kook's and ask about the 1 7/8 x 2 inch stepped primary headers with a 3.5 inch collector if you're really set on new headers. They will probably know if that or a true 2 inch would be best for your set up.

You don't need 2" headers...I promise...

TSP had a thread about their 2" headers, I was told you'll either have to notch the k-member for clearance or go with an aftermarket tubular K. I'd like to try it at some point as I could probably pick up a decent amount on a big cube motor. Kind of kick myself for not putting in an aftermarket K when I yanked the motor this winter, lol, would've been nice and easy.
