LS1's in the future

Where do you guys see 98-02 Fbody's in the future? Like 4-5 years from now...are there still gonna be low mileage cars around? Will the prices drop due to the Camaro coming back? I'm kinda wondering if I should pick one up now...... :bang:

Kalgorn Oct 22, 2006 06:28 PM

I'm sure there will be low mileage cars available but they will be practically impossible to find. It really depends on what you consider low miles though. When I think of low miles, I think 20k-40k. It's tough enough to find one with that mileage now... 4-5 years? Good luck.

And no, I don't think the prices will drop too much when the new Camaro comes out. Once the new one is out, it will be in the spotlight and a lot of people won't care about the 4th gens anymore but the price should stay around the same because the new Camaro is going to be pricey and teenagers won't be able to afford it.

I think there'll be plenty of low mileage ones left, especially SSs, WS6s Firehawks, etc. People are storing those in their garages, trying to get a million bucks for them. As far as buying an LS1 now, if you want one now, get one now. They will drop a little as they get older, but not enough to care about.

Good thing i'm in college right now. I'm going to get one right when they come out. LoL

Hell Yeah....+1 for getting one right after college!! :)

Thats what I'm doin too, I have a little over 3 years left before I get my RN, then i'd like to buy an LS1...had to sell my 01 ss to go back to school!

TXZ28LS1 Oct 23, 2006 07:25 AM

yeah, i wondered what would happen. even right now, a low mileage ls1 is gonna be atleast 17k.. i only have 35k miles on my car. and hopefully i cant be done with everything i want before i hit 50k and then just pretty much garage it. im pretty sure some people will ditch there current ls1, and pick up the new ones. but youll have those shady bastards with a nice damn ls1 keep it and get the new maro.. :bang: bastards. lol..

irnbru83 Oct 23, 2006 07:29 AM

17k??? That's news to me.

RPM WS6 Oct 23, 2006 10:11 AM

There will be at least one low mileage LS1 still left in 4-5 years...... MY car. ;)

My ’98 has 14,033 miles on it right now, and in 5 more years it’ll probably be right around 18,000 miles.

As mentioned above, I plan to keep the ‘98 and also add a new 5th gen Camaro to my collection by 2010.

TXZ28LS1 Oct 23, 2006 10:21 AM

yeah, SS and WS6 low mileage ones are going for atleast $17,000. i might eventually get a 5th gen maro.

Does anyone think the Trans Am may come back? I'm guessing if it does,it will be a year ot two after the Camaro. I'll think I'll keep my T/A for as long as can be, its high mileage at the moment (124,000) If/when that engine goes I'll just put in a shiny new one.
If road tax goes up higher the prices of these cars will drop over here as they will be even more costly to drive. I guess I'll garage it and use it at weekends insead of a daily driver.

Ls1CamaroGuy87 Oct 23, 2006 10:45 AM

ehh, I got my car 2.5 years ago with 15,000 miles, today it has exactly 37,000 miles, I guess I drive it a reasonable amount. But yeah, it will be hard to find low mileage ones in 4-5 years

I think GM will have another RWD V8 under the Vettes price, but which car I do not know. I've been hearing that they're redesigning a new GTO, but I've been hearing that they scrapped that too. Motor Trend had a possible new RWD Grand Prix that had something like 300-400hp. Of course there's the rumor that Pontiac will be all RWD in the near future as well. If they can keep the extra production cost of making two seperate bodies (Camaro-T/A) then I think they'll eventually bring back the T/A, but I also think that if there weren't any 4th gen T/As we never would have seen the 02-09 hiatus (sp?).

there are some drawings of the new TA, which is how the camaro started and now the camaro is coming back so i think ya definately the TA will be back owning the streets :eyes:
