because trans ams have a body kit. they have ground effects, a different front fascia and a spoiler. all this adds up to the trans ams weighing more than formulas.

ditto on that remark.... plus TRANS AM's have that bird on their car in several places and that alone takes up weight :)

Yes they are lighter but not enough to show a performance difference
Trans Am's have T-tops and Leather seats standard over what the standard Formula has otherwise it's the body kit and Wing and those don't add up to too much. Probably within 50 lb's of each other unless the Formula has T- tops and Leather also, then it will be closer.

:eyes: They don't have anymore of them than the Formula or even a v6 bird does.

NDFORSPD Feb 7, 2007 04:41 PM

lol, if that was the case, all the skinny guys would have 11 sec 1/4s!

2000badbird Feb 7, 2007 05:07 PM

the trans am hatch weighs a good bit more than the formula hatch i imagine with all the extra stuff a t/a has as far as hardware brackets and body kit there is a good weight diffrence im thinking a good 150 lbs

02silvaZ Feb 7, 2007 05:13 PM

formulas are lighter, how much? dunno i haven't put them both on the scale so oh well

the hatch is the biggest significant difference in weight

BLKWS.6 Feb 8, 2007 03:25 AM

3540 (55.9/44.1 f/r)on DOT scales with 3/4 tank of gas.

loaded except for no 12-disk. With a 6-speed.
