M6 or A4 help me decide
Hey guys whats up? I have owned 5 LS1 f bodys up to this point. Only one of them was a A4 the first one I had. I've been looking for a M6 stock to mildly modded foe 12k or less but they are hard to find in my area. I have how ever ran across several A4s that meet these conditions. When I buy another car I have every intention of sending to Ron @ Vengence Racing an having a H/C/I swap done on the car (TFS and a Fast 90/90 setup). Here is my dilemma should I hold out for an M6 or do you guys think that the auto is the way to go? The car will be a weekend driver an never see the track only the occasional street races with my buddies. Thanks guys for any tips or advice.

You can never go wrong w/ a stick. They are much more fun than autos, you are actually driving the car instead of letting the auto do it for you. IMO I say dont give up til you find a stick

^^ I dont smoke or drink coffee in the car... but it sure is a bitch to drive and talk on the cell phone when you have to shift all the time... i guess i could get hands free but they sound shitty
but anyway I wouldnt get an auto for the daily convenience if you truely enjoy the performance

I used to wish I had an m6 instead of the a4 but I'm finally happy with it. It's not boring for me, still fun and if you are driving the car a lot on a daily basis, it might be a better bet. It's all preference really. I think for me at this point I've gotten to like the a4 so much I'd go with one over an m6. But when I'm car shopping (or was for mine), it wasn't a deal breaker if it was one or the other.

Man i got a M6 now but the times i have seen out of A4 are crazy. 4200 stall, 3.73's lids, headers, and a tune, i have seen numerous 12.00 1/4 mile passes and some 11's. its hard to do that with a M6. Keep that in mind, and also the A4 is some what a little more 10 bolt friendly.

Well I won't be driving the car everyday so thats of no matter to me. This is strictly a performance related question. Is the M6 with a upgraded cluth a more fun car to drive than a A4 with a stall, an like I said this is a street car not a track car.

How exactly are they total different? Just because I don't take it to the track doesn't mean I'm going to drive it everyday either. Now the other I will give you is a little bit of a conridiction. I would rather have the more fun car to drive on the street.

a4 are good for the track but i like the look of confushion when i tell them that yes it is automatic and they tell me it would be faster if i was a 6spd well its all the same to me i wouldnt mind as 6spd for the fun to drive factor but a stall always wakes up a auto for that

no, theyre not total opposites.....i dont drive my car every day and its a street car. does that mean daily driven? no. does that mean dedicated race car? no. hes talking about a weekend driver, NOT daily, NOT dedicated racer. this is probably his second vehicle, his toy/project car. so i will say again, the stick is MORE FUN on the street, and you will probably get more performance on the street, since most racing/screwing around is from a roll, where sticks are much better then a stalled auto.

Also, I thought the converter would still help from a roll.

Real Men Shift Their Own Gears!
If you like to bang gears more than say...drink coffee and smoking in your performance car...you will feel disapointed/bored if you settle 4 an A4 IMHO.
