02 Trans am or 03 Cobra

I just got orders to Osan AB. Ill be gone for a year so I think I'm going to sell my car before I leave and get an 03 Cobra when I get back. What do you think about the 03 Cobra's? Do you think I will regret it if I got the Cobra?

1meantransam 06-09-2007 08:53 AM

to be honest no i dont think you will regret it, those are some pretty sick stangs. im not a ford guy at all (except F250 Diesels and 03 Cobras) honestly i would stick with the LS1 either T/A or Camaro but if i was ever to switch from GM it would ONLY be those 2 fords i mentioned. a 03 cobra can easily be passed with some minor bolt ons from a LS1 and im not talking big bolt ons, just the little things and if your a good driver you need even less. its your choice they are both badass cars

dirt2067 06-09-2007 09:03 AM

I get my balls busted all the time for growing up with bowties and buying a Ford but Ill tell you what the Cobra is a badass ride. Bone stock my Cobra ran in the mid to high 12's trapping 112-113mph. I love it. and for about $1,500 (pulley, exhaust, tune) it makes close to 480wheel HP and runs solid low 12's to high 11's.

1meantransam 06-09-2007 09:11 AM

now i dont know about 480 with just that, they come 390 and run high 12s stock. i have seen many of them run those numbers and you get your occasional idiot who cant drive that runs 13s, our cars are right behind them for how much of a horse drop it is from us to them... with those things he mentioned maybe 430 440ish you can have and be running mid low 12s. i say switch it up get the cobra, if your looking for something new and tired of LS1s go for it, but i would ONLY get that year and model

If you want a Cobra buy it. I've sold vehicles for a very long time. Few people ever come to my lot with much knowledge about their needs or wants, other than I want.

Good luck with the deployment also. Lots of reasons behind that statement but I don't see a need for details.

You'll enjoy the 2003 Cobra alot! It's an OEM Hotrod car, that you can just do some minor stuff to, and it becomes a real contender!! Plus...you can get in it and turn the key and drive to California without a breakdown of a highly modified car.

I'm a GM man myself but, no one can really turn down a 03 Cobra.

Pulley, exhaust, intake, tune = 460rwhp and 11.20 - 11.50's on a drag
radial with a good driver.

Get whatever car you like best. Is that what it's all about? Both cars
will perform when you throw money at them.

This one of the main reasons I want a Cobra. with a pulley, Catback, CAI and tune folks are getting 440-460 rwhp (at least thats what I read on the SVT message board), without it sounding and smelling like a racecar, which is a plus for a DD.

HFLDtA 06-09-2007 12:24 PM

Get the TA! Who cares if its slightly faster-theres always a bigger fish! You're looking for a DD, whats the gas mileage in a Cobra vs LS1? The Cobra doesnt look mean, like the GTO's. Honestly, the only mustang I would ever consider owning is the newer GT500 or Roush edition.

those cobras are nice sounding cars and badass rides..

again I like the looks of the ta more.. but depends ont he numbers for it.. if you can get a ta for 12k and then if the cobra is 18-20k.. get the ta L:)
but if the prices are the same get the cobra ;)

99camarosupersport 06-09-2007 01:58 PM

Get the Cobra, that's what you want. If not you wouldn't be thinking about it.

blky2k2z 06-09-2007 02:12 PM

I love 03-04 cobra's too but rwhp doesn't always seem to match up cobra to F body from my experience from countless races with the 5-10 pullied exhausted 03's around my area street racing I've owned 5 LS1's and it seems to take a 460-470 rwhp cobra to give a 410-420 rwhp F bod a good race both being m6 cars. Then on another note the fit and finish on a cobra is amazing the interior is great but doesn't fit me well I'm 6'3" and by the time I lean the seat back far enough so my head doens't hit the roof my arm doesn't sit comfortably on the shifter so to me the differance in price isn't worth it...

Not nall but hell nall, Definatly get the 03.
They hold their value way longer than camaro ss and just a little better than ws6.
I own a ss but I need a 03 cobra bad!

Exactly.

Also, If you're indifferent and just want more power, figure out how much power you want. Then calculate what it would cost to mod the ls1 to that level vs. what it would cost to trade for a cobra and mod to that level, and pick the more cost efficient route.

Good advice.

I almost gave up yesterday and I was at a Ford dealership test driving the new GT's.... I won't lie, they were terribly slow for being a brand spankin new car. Doesn't hold a match to an LS1.

Then I test drove an 04 cobra.....nice....

But again, I wasnt impressed for it having 390 HP. If you supercharge an LS1...a cobra has no chance...and thats basically what the cobra is....a supercharged GT with a 6-speed...

If I were you and you have the money for a cobra i would buy an SS and put a procharger on it or somethin

good luck tho, their both mean cars

Wrong. Ask me how I know.

Not even close...wrong again.

SchultzLT1 06-09-2007 05:08 PM

ok sorry i generalized....and ok how do you know? i know because i've seen a superchargerd LS1 run a stock cobra....it was an ok race but never a nail biting race...

i see you own a cobra...

and yes i generalized on the supercharged GT = Cobra but....its not THAT far off....

I could say an SS is just a Z28 with a hood and exhaust but yeah there is the spoiler, shifter, hood, exhaust, suspension....you get the idea.

didnt mean to upset anyone

SchultzLT1 06-09-2007 05:13 PM

by the way...check this out... is this for real?
