Isn't what that? The F-body's horsepower? No it's 350. Just as much as the corvette

Yep.

Pay no attention to GM's underrating of the F-body LS1. Real world dyno numbers show that the F-body LS1 is equal to the vette LS1. So, in reality:

'97-'00 LS1 (F-body or Vette) = 345hp
'01-'04 LS1 (F-body, Vette, or GTO) = 350hp

Giving the F-body a lower power rating than the vette was just a marketing trick that GM used to better justify the higher price of the Vette, and keep unknowing Vette owners happy with the fact that their "flagship" car had the highest HP rating of anything GM had to offer in those years. But the truth, proven by real world dyno tests, shows that there is NO 40hp difference between the F-body and the Vette, LS1 to LS1.

Hahaha. It's when the guy started saying similar things at my local shop (while giving me mod advice when i first got my car), that I quit listening. lol. His recommendation was porting the egr tube sticking down into the intake, and welding in a new muffler. He said other than that there wasn't a whole lot I could do before the mods started getting "major" (I already had a lid).

Ok, thanks for the responses guys. That pretty much confirmed what I thought, so maybe I can so my brother this thread and it will convince him I'm not trying to trick him into getting a slower car than mine... lol

HAHA! One time I was cruising through a local car meet, and I heard some kid say to his friend, 'man that thing sounds mean', then when I went by him, he said, 'oh, its just a z28, not an SS'

i think its more of a weight issue than driver especially if both are an A4.. my friend has a '05 gto M6 w/pacesetters LT's, offroad mids w/corsa sport exh. and a volant cai..my car weighs 3315 and his weighs 3865 and with my "real mods" mods, that both cars have.. i beat him every time..they are bad *** cars but just a little on the chubby side..

Hmm

Like I said in earlier post...check out my sig.

As you can see, with pretty much the same mods (just different brands)...my GTO was faster than the Z28.

The weigh difference isn't that much.

Not faster, according to your sig the GTO was "quicker". Meaning, they both shared the same MPH (equally fast), but the GTO ETed just a little better. That could be due to a varity of reasons, including traction, gearing, or weather/track condition differences.

But with both cars running 108, I'd say they were basically equal on the "fast" scale.

I would tend to agree, except if they had the same track, day, time, and tires and all that. Do you have the 60' and 1/8th times for those cars so we could get a little better comparison?

Hmm

lets see my car weighs 550 pounds less than my friends GTO im sorry but if both cars where showroom stock i think that 50 extra hp the LS2 has isnt going to do much.. which is my point in my post before its all about weight.. if both cars weighed the same obviously the GTO would win, but in my case i have a fairly light camaro and i would have to say thats why i spanked his ***..

Your Camaro is light at almost 3300# ...I think my 01 Z28 was around 3500 or so.

Edit: Well, mine was an A4 also..oops

pretty evenly matched cars. GTOs besides being heavier are harder to launch. IRS with small tires sucks but if you can figure it out they go pretty well.

but both cars are faster than stock mach 1s.
