I was wondering, how different are the instrument clusters from a C5 'vette from a 4th gen fbod? I would like to have a 200 mph spedo, but don't really want to use a pod set up. Any info on the specs, what I would need to do for a conversion, or and other advice would be much appreciated.

Yah, unless they could give me the same exact style as I currently I have in my T/As, they look cheesy. Thats probably because I am not a big fan of the camaro instrument cluster for the same years...

^^looks like you are screwed then, no one makes 200mph speedos in "firebird" style. I do not see how they look "cheesy"? its not like they have flames all over them or some ****....to each his own i guess

i got one looks just like the stock one, except for the white face, and the TCS says ARS. it's just an overlay with a little board soldered to the back of the cluster. you could probably make one glue it on and just adjust the computer calibration. lol

WRONG....Doing that won't work because adjusting the PCM calibration to make the speedo read right will throw off the odometer.

"If this calibration is set to "Yes", the PCM will ignore the calibrated VSS settings and will use externally programmed VSS settings instead. That means an external scan tool (such as Tech2) is required to program the VSS settings.

or maybe you can adjust the rear axle ratio to compensate.

"The number of pulses the speed sensor produces per mile.

This value is used to determine the vehicle's road speed and therefore controls the speedometer needle in the instrument cluster. Increase this value to retard the speedometer needle, decrease this value to advance the speedometer needle.

It is calculated from tire size (T), H0102 (P) and H0103 (D) using the equation:
Pulses per mile: H0101=P*D*63360/(T*pi) where T is specified in inches.
or
Pulses per km: H0101=P*D*1000000/(T*pi) where T is specified in mm.

For automatic vehicles, it will normally be consistent with the equation: H0101=H0102*H0104.

Some vehicles, particularly those fitted with non-standard wheels or tires by the dealer, may not have this value set correctly. The speedometer may have been recalibrated in the instrument cluster to compensate for different tire sizes or diff ratios. In that case, the EFILive speedometer calculator may not calculate the settings for your vehicle accurately.
