Insurance rates with SS and WS6s

Just out of curiosity, how much do insurance usually increase with going from a Z28 to a SS or similarly a regular T/A to a WS6? A fair amount or barely any difference?

bene 01-01-2008 11:11 PM

Should be the same. My insurance sees my car as Camaro Z28/SS.

There really shouldn't be a difference. What I really thought was interesting was that it was cheaper to insure my Z06 than my 99 z/28 that I had earlier this year. A newer car and a lot less miles for less money to insure. I do believe insurance sees the SS and WS6 as an option package which shouldn't do much if anything to insurance rates.

Insurance is pretty much the same between a Z28 and an SS. And yes Chrispy, insurance for a Z06 is cheaper than an an F-body. I was going to buy an 2001 Z06 before I bought my SS and the insurance was a good amount cheaper.

Z28 and SS are the same as WS6/Firehawk/Trans Am/Formula etc.

Mine was $120/mo btw. (before i turned 25, don't know what it is now LOL) And that was the same rate for my Z28 as my SS. Insurance just transfered over when i bought my SS.

The hear the reason behind that was because Vette drivers have a much older median age.

I stopped trying to make since of insurance rates. I just pay it and call it a day

same here...if i really get tired of paying a certain amount... i just wait 6 months...i dont think it has stayed the same for longer than that...but it goes down, not up, which is a good thing

There is no difference besides "value" a SS is worth more than a Z28 to a company. The rates are no different.

bryan04h 01-02-2008 03:30 AM

the rates will not go up...it will go up if you go from a z to vette though lol

Mine did not change when I got my WS6.

RareBreed0295 01-02-2008 09:44 PM

My insurance on the 2000 firehawk is around 110 a month..didnt increase from my previous TA..

raceme@you'dlose.com 01-02-2008 11:23 PM

For me 38 years old and no tickets in this state, a Corvette would be cheaper by about 300 dollars a year to insure. They really got me good with the questions. Is a Trans Am? yes. Is it a WS6? yes. Is it a convertible? yes. You could see the dollar signs in thier eyes. O-well if you wanna play you gotta pay.

Moscosoalfredo 01-02-2008 11:28 PM

It will be a small difference Depending on what type of insurance. With full coverage then yes because of the hoods. They are more expensive then the regular. And other parts like the suspension and rims. If you get into an accident.

Than and it's mostly because most Vette's haven't been wrecked/stolen as much as Camaro/TA's.

When I bought my 95 Cobra I paid $70 a month full coverage...I asked why it was so cheap compared to a GT (Over $100 a month) And that is the reason my insurance company gave me.

Skyfire 01-03-2008 02:32 AM

Being 18 my rate is outrageous but I don't think mine would be any cheaper because it is still considered a z28 to the insurance company.

Twigs 01-03-2008 02:01 PM

at 20, my insurance went up 60 bucks every 6 months going from a 98 z28 to a 00 WS6

chemicalstylez 01-04-2008 12:09 AM

I just pay $800 every 6 months for full coverage on my 00 WS6 (I'm 23). Now its going up since my 2 pt ticket from last year finally found its way to my insurance company meh.

TORK? 01-04-2008 12:14 AM

Since I'm in college still I'm able to be on my mother's insurance and it is outrageously cheap. With me as the primary driver but the insurance in her name it is ~$360 every 6 months. I'm 22 and never had any accidents and have gotten supervision on each of my tickets so they didn't go on record.
