Exactly. A lot of people seem to think because their car can make it to 150-160, and still have some RPM left before they had to let out, that they can make it to 170, etc. They don't realize that the amount of power required to gain each mile per hour starts becoming almost exponential at that point, because of aerodynamics.

My speedo is dead on at both 75, and 110 according to my in car GPS. Unless I have a faulty component, it should be just as accurate at 155 as the rest of them.

The guy I bought my car from supposedly had the speedo recalibrated with a tune when he added 3.73's. I thought my quarter mile time was going to suck because my guage said I trapped barely over 100. My slip said 113.xx so I was relieved. Still, don't you think that's too far off for a correct recalibration?

i had heard that with t-tops off going extremely fast like 125+ or w/e could potentially blow your rear hatch out. is that true? i just remember hearing it, and never ever thinking about doing it. idk if this is true or not, but man. that would suck. your hauling *** at 140 then you hear, *pop*.... *SHATTER*.... and then you would wonder why your car feels so light. only untill you slowed to a reasonable "i can look behind me now" speed would you be able to tell your about to kick your own ***.

165 is about all they will do without heads and cam. with good heads and a cam some guys have seen low 170's. to reach beyond that takes a lot of power, weight reduction, and gearing.

I have a ctvs and I will never know. I am 46 and 150 doesn't sound good to me anymore. I think 125 to 130 will suffice for me. I just want it to get there fast. Priorites change with age. My mods will be around getting there faster. I don't think 160 sounds good to me without a cage and harness. You younger guys can take care of the top end stuff.

yea... i have no desire to peg the speedo in mine, unless its on a track. the thought of someone pulling over because they didnt see me coming, or a blow out on my R rated tires scares the **** outa me... (not that i could do over 118, BECAUSE of my R rated tires... damn speed limiter)

I wanna guess a Stock F-body M6 prob could hit 160-165 and thats about it. i have a hard i time believing that it could hit 170. A stock A4 F-body might touch 160 maybe with a wind pushing it?

I recently got permission to top out on a runway on a base, but I don't want to do it until next year when I can afford to complete H/C/I/E so I can really push it. I want 170. Probably won't like going fast after that, good to get it out of my system on a runway then a freeway.

I've done around 130ish in mine.... more than enough.... and I'm not planning on doing that again either. You get caught doing triple digit speeds... they will put you under the jail... unless you are very lucky. If you have an accident at that kind of speed.... YOU ARE DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!
