Arrow LT's and Y-pipe VS. Catback First

There was a thread a little ways back that made me think about this. Would you do longtubes and y into the stock catback first and the catback later or vice versa? Price is about the same on some common products like Pacesetter LT's and ORY versus a Magnaflow or Hooker catback. Which did you go with or would you go with?

I have LT's, ORY and a Cutout into a stock catback and I love it! Its almost as quiet as stock than it sounds like a nascar in about 1 min

I went with a catback (Hooker) first, the car came with a Flowmaster catback on it and I wasn't a big fan.

I went with a catback first, but if I could do it again, I would probably do LTs and ORY w/ a manual cutout first, then get a catback when I could afford it.

What are your feelings towards hacking the catback off and dumping a Bullet or Sweet Thunder?

Actually the Sweet Thunder is pretty damn quiet in my opinion. I've whored this video out a thousand times, but it's a good example. This is my car with nothing more than the stock catback hacked off. Factory manifolds, Y-straw and I-pipe. It had a cut out when I bought it, so I just ditched the muffler because it wasn't doing anything but making weight.

I'll upload my videos of the car after the header swap so you can see the difference.

That really doesn't sound all too much louder.

Wonder how loud it would be with Pacesetters and a Y with no catback.

I drove mine with headers and an open Y-pipe about a week before getting my muffler put on. It's cool for romping every now and then, but starts sounding stupid after awhile.

I say buy it all together, but if you have to piece it together do LTs and O/R Y and later do a cutout.

I'm a big fan of a pretty tame CB paired with a Electric Cutout. That way when the piggies are around you don't have to sweat, but when some one wants tries to rev on you you can show them what a real car sounds like.

X2... That's exactly what i want to do. The mild catback would give the car a nice sound, but still be pretty quite to the driver. Unlike a stock catback which just sucks.

get longtubes, and o/r y then do a cutout. Sounds good and doesnt have to ALWAYS be loud. Im running stock catback and it even sounds nice when the cutout is closed. But not obnoxious

^ as said before, IMHO this is the best setup. Sure some places cops are chill. But not here in Nazifornia, which is why I picked m current setup

since i am going to school i cant really buy it all at once, i am def doing the lt's and ory first, then selling my cats and adding an e-cutout! some time down the line i want to add a magnaflow catback and maybe into a cme to get a nicer tone out of it when the cutout is closed! i just thought this might make an interesting thread as to what people did first.
