Who here thinks that the Gen 3 and 4 sections should be merged?
Who here believes that separate Gen 3 and 4 sections are really needed?
The differences between the two are simply too trivial for GM to have even been warranted in calling the updated design the Gen 4. I believe that the only reason that GM did this was for marketing reasons to make the C6 seem more radical when it was introduced.
Nearly every time that I use the search function, I come up with duplicate hits of the same topic being posted in each respective Gen 3 and 4 section. What is most annoying is that quite often one of the duplicate topics will have more and or different insightful posts that are not found in the other. So you have to read both topics anyways.
It simply seems that it would be practical to merge these two sections.

There's enough differences in parts to warrant it. It's tough enough to know what goes and doesn't on a Gen III let alone sift through the whole Gen IV along with it. Even when dealing with clutches we have to be aware of Gen III LS1/LS6 applications and Gen IV LS2/LS7 applications for the flywheels and that causes enough problems in the Manual forum, imagine all the little differences that would pop up from plug locations, what heads and intakes can or can't be used but swapped over and then the whole bore sizes... new engine modders would be pretty much lost trying to figure out if the info applies to them or not.
