rear main leak sealer
i found an additive that you add to your oil to fix oil leaks it says it will fix the rear main leaking garenteed. has anyone ever used this stuff if so what is a good one to get and how well does it work? and can this harm my motor?

dont use any additives in your oil... all that **** does is clog up things that have no reason being clogged.... in my opinion id stay faaaar away from anything being dumped into the oil... its going to cause more problems than its worth..

I would not put that into your motor and expect it to help any. I find all that crap they sell at the parts store hilarious. (liquid head gasket, radiator stop leak, smoke b gone) Nothing is going to fix your main seal except pulling the tranny and actually replacing the main seal!

I don't use any of that kind of thing, they
make the seals soften and swell up which
is fine for the short term but makes any
wear, go that much quicker and then when
the volatiles dry back out and/or you change
the oil, the seal shrinks again and you're
worse off than before.
You also have to wonder whether modern
synthetic rubber seals act anything like the
older ones, that these clown potions were
developed for. At best the stuff will do no
or little harm, but it's a lousy Lotto of Suck
ticket.
