Help??/// car wont start?
 

The wierdest thing happened today...

i was at school and as i get ready to leave a turn the key on and it sounded like it was about to start but it didnt.. i tried twice again before it started..

so i drove home and parked the car.... look around to see if i saw something wrong... but it all look ok.... a few hours later i am ready to head out again... and when i turn the key nothing happens???? there was power (since the radio went on) but the engine did not attempt to start.. on the dash i saw the "SECURITY" light.... i just left the car alone for like 10mins and then it started up again...??

does anybody have a clue to whats going on>???

same damn thing happend to me. my POS ac delshmo battery pooped out a while ago and i my car was under warrenty so i took it back to chevy and the threw a new one in. a few months later (now) i go to turn on my car and the radio turns on and it doesnt crank, turn, spark or anything. i turn the key off. i try again 10 seconds later and it fires up.i have my connections snugly tightened so i have no clue. anyone out there know whats going on. is my car retarded?

the same thing happened to me, the sylinoid <sp> (or whatever it's called) in the column that reads the resistor (black &amp; silver thing in key) is going out. hopefully your car is still under warranty otherwise it's pretty expensive to fix. but i think that there is a way your can by pass it so that way you can get rid of it.

VATS!!!! (Vehicle Anti Theft System) is shot! That's my guess...

if you have a spare key try that one next time, my old 95 camaro used to have the security light come on, it was because the little chip thingy in our ignition key was worn, so try the spare, see if that cures the problem

Should be the anti theft system. If someone or something sets your alarm off during the night, or maybe some freshies while you're at school, it'll set off the security system to make sure no one steals your car...unfortunatly sometimes you can't get into your own car! I know mine only didn't start once and I've never had a problem with it again.

Does anyone know if anything registers on the Tech 2 with this problem?

Definitely the VATS. Have it checked out!
