What is the thick, black, sticky snot like stuff used to hold weather strip in place. I dont think its the conventional RTV or stuff from a tube and was used to hold parts of the vert weather strip in place. I am trying the RTV but I am not convinced it will work. This stuff is very sticky and instantly holds the WS in place.

I don't know about the black stuff, the stuff I've used is yellow. It's 3M weatherstrip adhesive. Any parts store should have it.

There's different types of weatherstrip adhesive. Your local auto parts store should sell the black stuff in small tubes.

I used black silicone sealant for the rear hatch trim. It was melting from sitting in the sun all these yrs and coming out from the trim.

Dum dum, Comes in small strips on wax paper.

Most dealers, bodyshops and car audio shops will have it.
