Only misfires when its raining or wet out. WTF!!

Ok might be weird but my car only misfires when its raining out or when the grounds wet

the air filters not wet or the plug/wires. i have know idea what could cause this. when its dry out no problems at all

i was thinking o2 sensor?

pulled the codes and it was only for misfires

Breaking Stuff 05-21-2009 05:11 PM

I would suspect its your o2's also.

check out the 02 sensor "wires".

allenwesley 05-21-2009 09:24 PM

Do you have an lt1? If so it could be your optispark... and if not, if you have headers and you had to extend you o2 sensors they could be getting wet? I just had this happen to my car, tha misfiring in the rain... oh man I know it’s a pain in the a#%!!

You know, if it was torn or ripped 02 sensor wires you would have all kinds of other issues when it was wet out.

I'd check the spark plug wires for problems.

got some o2s ill put them on tomorrow let you no

Sounds like you probably have an exposed wire somewhere. I see you have longtubes. Take a look and make sure none of your wiring has been in contact with your headers and melted, exposing the bare wire.

You didn't just buy new 02 sensors did you?????

If your car runs fine when its dry out, it can't be your 02 sensors. UNLESS....its the wires that attach directly to the sensors that are damaged.

I would have checked the spark plug wires first.

had the same problem in rain changed plugs and wires dont drive 02 z28 much waiting to get caught in the rain to see it that helped :bang:also check engine multiple miss fire

Thanks for all the input. Was the o2s. Changed then drove in rain no problems :)

it wasn't the o2's.. its just your car is a POS and would get beat anyday by my car.
