Just had my pinion seal replaced at the dealership cause it was leaking pretty bad. Now it seems like everytime im sitting at a light or anything and put it into 1st gear a hear a popping sound. It only happens in 1st gear when i come to a stop and sit then put it back into 1st. Any ideas what it is and do i need to take it back to the shop?

What happens if you go into reverse?? Do you hear a clunk??

I dont believe so but maybe id have to check, just noticed it in 1st.

bump...... hoping for an answer im about to take the car on a 1200 mile roadtrip next month.

ok after listening more to it, it sounds like a clunk through the driveline while engaging 1st gear with the clutch depressed from a complete stop. Havent heard it while putting it in reverse yet. anyone have anythoughts what it might be?
