Question 02 LS1 w/low rpm vibration???

I got this 02 35th anniversary edition convertible with auto that came into work today with a vibration from 700-1100 rpm.It only does it in gear and I can only get it to do it when cool, once warm,it lessens. It is mainly heard in the interior, but you can feel it under the hood on drivers inner fender, like if you hold the AIR hose.
I set the park brake, dropped it in gear and used the TECH 2 to raise rpm til it would vibrate, then went looking.I do notice the drivers side part of the Y pipe seems to vibrate a lot,but applying pressure to it does nothing.
I did not find any loose mounts or x members. It seems like something harmonic, aybe in the convertor or low end of engine.
Has anyone had or heard of anything like this??Please let me know.
Thanx,Joe

Hey guys, I had read on this website a while ago that the vibration in the 02's was due to some sort of driveshaft problem. I'm trying to find the article and as soon as I get the link to it I'll post it.

MrHughesZ28-Yes I am a tech at a caddy/chevy dealer,sadly we mainly get caddy's and trucks,very seldom camaros.
HK2328-That's great, hope you find it.I was wondering about it being something with the harmonics in the driveshaft,it also seems to ahve some slop where the slip yoke goes on the tailshaft of the trans.
This car is a salesmans car and only has about 10k on it.By the looks of the under side,he only takes it out when it is nice, maybe garaged too.
Thanks,Joe

Guys, I think I might have found an answer. This comes from the FAQ on WS6.com, in the 4th Generation section...

Q: What is that vibration I feel around 1800-2000 RPM?

A: This problem is an unbalanced driveshaft. Most people with the problem feel it at its worst between speeds of 90 and 120 MPH. Others claim they can also feel it by slowly bringing the RPMs up to the 1800-2000 range with the car in park or neutral. But that isn't necessarily the same problem. Some even start to feel it as low as 60 MPH. It usually starts with a mild resonating vibration you can feel through the gas pedal. Then in at 80 - 90 MPH, the vibration intensified and feels as though it's coming from the center of the car.

It seems cars are coming off the assembly line with the unbalanced drive shafts. A Technical Service Bulletin (#674101) addresses this calling for replacing the stock driveshaft with a 3rd generation all-aluminum driveshaft (part #10085375) which came with the 1LE equipped cars. Although there have also been instances prior to the TSB where it was replaced with the standard 3rd gen steel driveshaft (part #26004464). Either seems to work just fine (although the aluminum one is lighter in weight). Make sure you let your dealer know what the TSB number is as it will be fixed under warranty.

Hope this helps!

Mike,
Thanks for the info.I will have to run it upto 90 or so to see if it occurs.Have only gotten to 70 and not felt it.Can only duplicate at 10mph in 1st/2nd gear or with brake on,in gear at said rpm.
Will check driveshaft for balance weights, maybe replace with mine to try. Will also look up the bulletin.
Thanks again,Joe

No prob Joe. Oddly enough, I felt the same thing in my car for a couple weeks (it's an '02 WS6), and then it went away.

Just a thought, this might be due to engine load, high engine load and low rpm's could very well cause this, my car does it also.
Good Luck man

Wes, somewhat of a dumb question. What do you mean by high engine load?
